Brief Character History

Emily "Scout" was born to Sam McCall and Andrew Cain. At the time, Drew had suffered extensive amnesia resulting from a horrific hit-and-run accident that had wiped out his past and had left him with a new face. However, DNA tests revealed him to be "Jason Morgan," the long-lost husband of Sam McCall who had been presumed murdered in a mob ambush.

Sam and "Jason" had rekindled their romance then exchanged wedding vows in September 2016 when they learned that Sam was pregnant. The pregnancy was a complete surprise because Sam had struggled with years of infertility and various surgeries just to conceive and deliver her son, Danny. Sam and "Jason" had never dreamed that they would be blessed with a second child, and they looked forward to Sam's March delivery. On October 21, Sam and "Jason" felt their baby kick for the first time, and a few days later they shared the news with Danny.

Danny had been begging his parents for a puppy, but he was thrilled to get a sibling instead. He promptly named the baby "Scout," so everyone followed suit even though no one knew if the baby was a boy or a girl. Sam's pregnancy was plagued by nausea, and she was briefly hospitalized for "round ligament pain" late in her second trimester.

At Sam's baby shower, Maxie announced that she had a "gender reveal" cake, but Sam was furious that Maxie had intruded on Sam and "Jason's" privacy. Maxie promised that no one knew the baby's gender because she had only shared the sealed envelope containing the results with the baker. Sam forgave her friend, and in the end, Sam opted not to cut the cake.

As February 2017 drew to a close, Sam's aunt Olivia Jerome had been revealed to be alive and on a diabolical quest to be reunited with Duke Lavery. After Olivia kidnapped Sam, Sam managed to slip out of the car, but Olivia had caught up to her on the Roebling bridge. Olivia confronted Sam with a gun, and a brief struggle ensued but Olivia prevailed when she sent Sam tumbling down the ravine. Olivia fled, and Sam desperately tried to crawl up the snowy embankment, but she went into labor.

Luckily for Sam, "Jason" found her in time to deliver the baby, and Sam and her infant daughter were rushed to the hospital. Emily Scout Morgan was born prematurely, and she had showed signs of being exposed to the elements, but she was otherwise healthy. After Sam and Scout were discharged from the hospital, Sam and "Jason" asked Sonny and Carly Corinthos to be their daughter's godparents.

In July, it was revealed that Sam had contracted toxoplasmosis during her time in the ravine when she'd given birth to Scout. Additional tests determined that Scout was fine.

A few months later, Sam's world was turned upside down when a man named Patient 6 arrived in Port Charles claiming to be the real Jason Morgan. A fingerprint match would confirm that Patient 6 was indeed Jason, and the man whom everyone believed was Jason was in fact his identical twin brother who had been given up at birth. Andrew Cain had been kidnapped around the time that Jason had been presumed killed, and Drew had been exposed to an experimental procedure that had wiped out Drew's memory and replaced with Jason's past.

The mastermind behind the plot had been Helena Cassadine. Helena had hoped to create the perfect killer, but her plans had gone awry when Drew had managed to escape from the clinic where he had been held captive. Sam assured Drew that she still loved him despite the revelation that he was not the real Jason Morgan. To prove that she meant it, Sam made plans to marry Drew right away.

Around this time, Drew also learned that he had a son from a previous relationship during his life as Drew Cain. Drew and Oscar Nero were determined to make up for all the time that they had lost. On Drew and Sam's wedding day arrived, Monica told Drew that she wanted to adopt him because her love for him had not changed -- he was still her son. Touched, Drew agreed.

Unfortunately, Drew and Sam's marriage wouldn't last. Despite her best intentions, Sam's heart belonged to Jason. Drew and Sam had an amicable divorce, and they agreed to joint custody of their daughter. Sam promised Drew that she would never stand in the way of his relationship with his Scout. Drew enjoyed spending time with both of his children, but when Oscar was revealed to be dying from an inoperable brain tumor, Drew shifted his focus to his son. Oscar loved his sister, and he made a point to spend quality time with her.

After Oscar passed away, Drew took solace in spending time with Scout. He would take her to work with him, and she was seen coloring at a corner table in his office, while he worked.
