Jack and Jennifer have a lot to deal with on Days of our Lives, so Cady McClain is bringing the character back to Salem.
Cady McClain, who was last seen as Days of our Lives' Jennifer Deveraux in 2023, will return to the Salem scene on Friday, August 16, according to Soap Hub. Now that Chad and Jack have located a woman who could be her beloved daughter Abigail, Jennifer needs answers.
McClain took over the role of Jennifer in 2020 after Melissa Reeves chose not to return to DAYS after COVID shut down production for several months. McClain and Reeves have alternated playing Jennifer ever since. McClain took home a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer in 2021 for the role.
It was her third win since 1990. She previously won in the Outstanding Younger Actress category for portraying All My Children's Dixie Cooney and as Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2004 for playing As the World Turns' Rosanna Cabot.
McClain turned in a stellar performance when a grieving Jennifer began taking prescription painkillers to ease her emotional pain after Abigail's presumed death in 2022. After running down Gwen with her car while under the influence, Jennifer left town with Jack.
With the possibility that Abigail is alive, Jennifer needs answers and feels she can get them with her husband in Salem. Matthew Ashford's Jack has been back since July, helping Chad track down the truth about Abigail.
Reeves, who originated the role of Jennifer in 1985 after getting her soap start as Jade Perkins on Santa Barbara, is slated to return to Salem as Jennifer later this year. She will be among a plethora of returning performers saying goodbye to Bill Hayes and his longtime character, Doug Williams. Hayes passed away in January of this year, and his memorial episodes are set to air in December. Other returns include Kristian Alfonso, Stephen Schnetzer, and Gloria Loring.
Whether McClain will appear as Jennifer again after Reeves's return remains to be seen. The actress is currently living in New York City, working in theater after announcing her divorce from General Hospital's Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins) in April.
