Secret agent man: General Hospital star Charles Mesure reveals why Brennan is so dangerous

Jack Brennan is a man of mystery on General Hospital, and Charles Mesure loves the job of figuring him out.

When Charles Mesure made his first appearance as Jack Brennan on General Hospital last fall, we thought Carly was getting a brand-new love interest. However, before we could blink, Anna arrested him, and off to Pentonville he went.

However, the character caught on, so he has now become Carly's Pentonville pal who she frequently visits for advice. It doesn't seem to matter to Carly that the man tried to hold her hostage before Anna swooped in. Instead, she's drawn to him as she stays true to character with her attraction to danger.

Little does Carly know how dangerous Brennan really is. She has no idea he is one of the men behind Pikeman, the arms-dealing organization Jason has been trying to bring down. Instead, Carly keeps inadvertently giving Brennan information that can hurt Jason rather than help him.

Anna knows just how dangerous her former WSB colleague is because they trained together years ago. Considering that we only see Brennan every few weeks, fans have yet to witness him in action, but that's what actor Charles Mesure believes makes him more dangerous.

"Jack Brennan could be a bit like the shark in Jaws," Mesure told Soap Opera Digest. "The less the shark is around, the more interesting the shark is. Jack Brennan may be in that category. He may be more dangerous and appealing the less you see of him."

While many fans have fallen for Brennan's considerable charm, Mesure loves it when other fans can see just how horrible his character is.

"I really appreciate the people who find Brennan obnoxious!" he said. "There are folks saying, 'Isn't Brennan charming, isn't he sexy?' and then there are folks who find him a complete jerk and I go, 'Oh, my God, they see me! They see what I'm doing! Because Brennan does things that are hideous. He lies every five seconds. He's got an incredibly sleazy, sexually aggressive side and so on."

With Brennan looking for any way out of his current prison predicament, it's a good bet he will be prowling around Port Charles again soon. That means Carly may finally learn she's trusted the wrong man.
