For those of you who have wondered where in the world Courtney has gone, Port Charles now has an answer: Sarah Aldrich has been let go from the show - but only temporarily.
The new 12-week story arcs used in Port Charles' storytelling do not allow the writers to focus on all of the show's characters at a given time. During the current "book," called "Fate," Aldrich's character is one of those characters that the writers had decided will not be seen in a front-burner storyline.
Aldrich's contract with the show was up for renegotiation around the beginning of December, the same time that the new storyline format began. Both Aldrich and ABC agreed to part company for a little while, since Courtney wouldn't be featured prominently in the show's story arcs.
During this break time, Aldrich is free to pursue other opportunities, but a show spokesperson insists that Courtney will be back on the canvas in the near future --- possibly in time for the second book, which begins in March. The spokesperson also asserts that they would like Aldrich to reprise the role.
