In Tammy and Jon's room, Frank questions her about Jon's whereabouts the prior evening. Sandy had called 911, saying he was being threatened by Jon. Tammy says there is nothing wrong; Jon was with her the entire evening. When Frank leaves, Tammy has flashbacks of Jon telling her they needn't worry about Sandy any longer. She looks worried. She starts to call and leave a message for Jon but decides to go to Fox Cliff to see what's going on for herself.

When Tammy first arrives at Fox Cliff she imagines a fight scene between Jon and Sandy, during which Jon forces Sandy off the cliff. When she returns to reality, she looks up to see Sandy standing there. She accuses him of staging the whole thing so the police would go after Jon. Sandy tells her he must save her from Jon. She tells him that he is right. She says Jon is out of control, who knows who else he would hurt. She tells Sandy the two of them should go away together. Sandy asks if she means it. Tammy says she had been so stupid; she needs to be with someone she can trust, someone like Sandy. When Sandy asks her if she loves him, she replies he was once her best friend and she wants to leave with him.

At the hospital, Josh has insisted Reva be there because of a headache she hasn't been able to shake. She's had blood tests and they are about ready to leave. She's been trying to reach Jon on her cell phone. After Josh runs into Billy in the hallway, asking him to leave, Reva interrupts and invites Billy into the room. The brothers argue about Billy's responsibility in the car accident. Reva tries to keep the peace. Billy tells them he's only at the hospital to attend an AA meeting and leaves the two. Reva tells Josh she's going home, not back to the hotel. Josh says she shouldn't be alone. She replies, "Who says I'll be alone?" Billy returns, saying the meeting had been canceled. Since Josh had nixed the idea of Jon staying with Reva, she suggests Billy move in with her. Both Josh and Billy think it's a bad idea. Reva insists that to hold onto his sobriety, Billy needs to be around friends and family, not four walls all alone. She convinces Billy so he leaves to get prepared to move in. Reva reminds Josh it is a big house, and she thinks Billy's earlier revelations about his feelings for her were just because of the accident. Josh agrees that since it is a big house, he's moving in as well - to be a stabilizing factor. What could possibly go wrong? Josh leaves the room and Reva receives a phone call from Frank that her son Jon is over the edge.

Jon returns to his and Tammy's room, finding Frank there ready to interrogate him about Sandy's disappearance. Jon tells Frank it was all a set up and he needs to leave to go find Tammy. Frank orders an officer to restrain Jon while he has to leave for a minute. While Frank's gone, Jon hits the officer over the head and takes off for Fox Cliff.

Jon shows up and Sandy realizes Tammy still wants to be with Jon. He grabs Tammy, saying he will jump over the cliff, taking her with him. Jon tells him not to do it because he knows Sandy loves Tammy and wouldn't want to hurt her. Sandy, after saying Tammy would be better over the cliff with Sandy than with Jon, tells Jon he'll let her go if Jon would take Tammy's place and go over the cliff with him. It will be just like it was back in Switzerland, just the two of them for old time's sake.

At the restaurant, Alan-Michael catches Marina listening to his tape player. Thinking she's listening to his recording of Harley, he tries to grab it away. She looks at him suspiciously, telling him she never thought that he, of all people, would be... a Milli Vanilli fan. Relieved, he takes the tape player and confesses he once tried to fit in, in order to "bore" the right people, telling her she could be the right people. She says, "You know, that's why I love you." They both looked shocked. She starts to backtrack, but then insists she does love him. He tells her they are wrong for one another and they have to end their relationship. He tells her they both knew it would never work out, breaking it off with her and leaving abruptly, although she tried to protest.

Marina is already in Alan-Michael's office when he arrives. She tells him he's not breaking up with her - she's breaking up with him. She boldly lists her attributes, pointing out that no man has ever regretted dating her because she is so much fun and so supportive. She tells him he blew it. As she's leaving, he grabs her and kisses her passionately. She kisses back. As they feverishly remove one another's clothing, they continue to kiss while each is telling the other goodbye. Alan-Michael sweeps everything off his desk and the two begin to make love.

At Homestead Hills, Beth and Alan are preparing to leave. Harley, with Mallet with her, barges in and catches the two of them. She frantically searches the cabin for Gus, with no luck. Beth tells her to calm down. She and Alan tell her how Gus didn't make it. Harley doesn't believe them. Alan tells her Gus died trying to save his life, but he fell through the ice and he couldn't recover him. Alan then tells of how he made it to the cabin and Beth found him. Beth tells Harley and Mallet she nursed Alan back to health in secret because she wanted to protect her husband from everyone they knew would blame Alan for Gus' death. Harley still doesn't believe Gus is dead. Alan tells her she lost a husband and he lost another son. It is his responsibility to carry with him the rest of his life. Beth tells Harley it is hard to accept, but she must. Beth feels a pain and Alan insists they leave for the hospital. Left alone with Mallet, Harley tells him she can't understand what's happening, Gus should have been there smoking a cigarette and asking what took her so long to get there. Mallet is in disbelief as well. Harley gives in saying, "He's not coming back, is he?" Over her shoulder, scratched into a brick in the fireplace, is the letter "G." Mallet tells Harley there is nothing there. As they are leaving, Harley says, "I can't believe it. I thought he'd still be alive."

Beth and Alan arrive at the hospital where they run into Josh in the hallway. Josh looks dumbstruck, he and Alan say hello to one another. Without a word of explanation, Beth and Alan walk away. Alan tells Beth she and the baby must be examined. He also cryptically remarks that Gus must never be found. The future of Alan and Beth's family depends upon it.

As Reva learns from Frank where Jonathan is, her son is standing at the edge of a cliff, willingly sacrificing his own life for Tammy's. He takes her place with Sandy, and the pair faces off, just like they did years earlier. A fistfight leaves Jonathan holding Sandy by the collar, but Reva's arrival distracts him long enough for Sandy to get free and gain the upper hand. As he is about to toss Jonathan off the cliff, Reva tries to get through by reminding Sandy that she loved him like a son once, and loves him still. But Sandy is still determined to finish Jonathan off. Tammy throws herself at Sandy to save Jonathan, but ends up pushing too hard and sending Sandy careening off the cliff to his death.

Coop accidentally learns the guy Ava is dating is actually an escort paid for by Lizzie. But that's nothing compared to the surprise Lizzie gets when she sees a very much alive Alan step out of the elevator with her mother! As Lizzie tries to wrap her head around what just happened, Buzz does Frank a favor and fills in for him on a date with Olivia. They chat, they drink, they kiss...

Cassie and Jeffrey have an awkward encounter where they agree they're apart. But when another woman comes on to Jeffrey, Cassie jumps in to report he's taken. The whole thing takes a backseat, however, to Cassie hearing about Tammy causing Sandy's death. As always, Cassie blames Jonathan.

Jonathan and Tammy are still on the cliff. He is comforting Tammy, telling her that it wasn't her fault Sandy fell; it was an accident. Sandy died because Sandy set it up. They can at last be together without having to constantly look over their shoulders. As they turn to leave, Cassie and Josh arrive. Tammy runs into her mother's arms and sobs. Cassie asks if she and Jonathan are married. She is relieved when Tammy assures her they are not. Jonathan tries to leave with Tammy but Josh asks that he allow her a few minutes alone with her mother. Cassie leads Tammy up the steps from the cliff to her car. Tammy explains what happened to her Mom. Cassie assures her daughter she won't let him hurt her ever again. Tammy misunderstands and thinks Cassie means Sandy. But it's Jonathan about whom Cassie is talking. Cassie starts the car off and drives off, telling her daughter she loves her too much to turn back.

When Jonathan and Josh hear the car tires screech as Cassie drives away, Josh assures him that Cassie will return when she's taken care of Tammy. Jonathan says he wished Sandy dead so many times and now he is. Jonathan says Josh is probably wishing it was he, Jonathan, who went off the cliff. Josh tells him, no, he was just wishing none of it had happened. Jonathan tells Josh what happened and that it wasn't his fault; Sandy had serious problems and always did. But he just finally snapped. It was either him or Tammy until he came along and took her place on the ledge. He just wanted to keep Tammy safe. Josh says that's what they all want. Jonathan speaks about how special Tammy is, so full of joy and open. He doesn't want to lose her.

Cassie takes Tammy to a run down room in a building off an alley. She says it's where they used to live after Tammy was born and as a little girl. Cassie explains to her daughter how much in love with Rob Layne she was. She believed they would have a wonderful life together, especially when the money started to come in. What she didn't realize was the money was coming from drug deals. When Tammy was born, Cassie went to the hospital alone, scared. Rob wasn't there for her. He was off taking care of a drug deal and got arrested. It was only when Cassie returned that she realized how awful the home was. She vowed never to let Tammy live like that again.

Cassie recalls the time she and Tammy were having a pretend tea-party. There was banging and knocking at the door. She hoped whoever it was would just go away. But they didn't. They burst in to the room and grabbed Tammy from her. Tammy realizes her mother is talking about Child Services. Cassie tells Tammy she tried to come after her to get her back. Tammy still had a little teacup in her hand. Tammy remembers she held on to it until they put her in the car, when she dropped it. Cassie takes some papers from her coat pocket. They are forms with photos of different foster parents Tammy was placed with over the years. She remembers them as being unkind and making her eat in the kitchen while they ate in the dining room. Cassie wonders if Tammy ever wondered where she was. Tammy assures her that she always knew Cassie would come back for her. Cassie worries that she waited too long and she let her down, just as she feels she's let her down now. Tammy tells her mother than she DID get her back. But Cassie tells her it wasn't right away. She had to sink a little lower before that happened.

Cassie and Tammy are outside a club called "Teasers." Cassie tells Tammy that she would take her clothes off for any man with $5 in his pocket. Tammy reminds her Mom that she also danced. But Cassie asks whether she really thinks they came to watch her dance? They are approached by a somewhat scantily dressed woman who asks for a light. Neither Cassie nor Tammy is able to help and she walks away. Cassie comments, "That was me! Is it going to be you?" Cassie wants to take Tammy inside so she can see how humiliating it was for her. Tammy fights with her mother not to enter. Cassie tries to compare Rob and the men she met in the clubs to Jonathan. But Tammy tells her Jonathan is not like them; Cassie just can't stand it that they are cousins. Cassie declares she wishes that was all it was. She tells Tammy that ever since they came to Springfield she has always been surrounded by friends and family who love her. Cassie didn't have that. She worries that if Tammy continues to be around Jonathan she will end in situations where Cassie won't be able to save her. She reminds Tammy she wasn't on the cliff; she wasn't there in the fire. How many accidents did she have in her life before she met Jonathan? How many of her friends died before she met Jonathan? She tells Tammy she needs to make choices. Tammy tells her she knows all about choices because she's had to live with most of Cassie's. Cassie implores Tammy to walk away from Jonathan before it's too late.

Cassie takes Tammy to her bedroom at the farmhouse. They look at her childhood belongings and talk about her dreams for the future and what she wanted to be when she grew up: a ballerina, a horse jockey, a dentist. Tammy asks her what she wants now. She wants her Tammy back. She wants more for her than just fighting battles for Jonathan. She wants Tammy to take back her life and let go of Jonathan. Tammy picks up a stuffed pony she was given by Hart. She remembers Hart told her that if she ever needed to, she could ride off on the pony. Cassie tells her to do it. Tammy placates her mother and tells her she is right about everything. Cassie is thrilled and leaves Tammy to rest. When her mother leaves, Tammy fingers the locket Jonathan gave her and says his name. She checks at the door, and then climbs through the window, where she is caught by Cassie when she falls.

Jonathan talks about being in school with Sandy and how they were once friends. Josh wonders whether Jonathan also has some things he needs to work out, once Tammy has made her decision. Jonathan is puzzled and wonders what's going on. He asks when Cassie is going to come back. Josh reveals she's not. Jonathan realizes what's happening and that Cassie is going to use Sandy's accidental death as a way to turn Tammy against him. Jonathan gets angry with Josh and yells that he has always put Tammy first. He asks where Josh was when Sandy was threatening and hurting Tammy. Josh tries to answer but Jonathan angrily tells him Sandy is the one who tried to kill Tammy and he is the one who almost died trying to save her. Jonathan is close to tears as he tells Josh there is nothing they won't do to keep him from Tammy. He leaves to try to find her.

Cassie takes Tammy to the hospital and locks her in a darkened room. Tammy shouts to her mother to let her out. She sees what appears to be a covered body lying on a table. When she pulls back the cover, she sees that it's Sandy. She is frightened and tries to get out of the room, still yelling for her mother. She sits on the floor and is visited by Sandy's ghost, who is kind to her. She apologizes to him for not being honest with him. He tells her all they can do is remember the good times. She apologizes again and tells him she did love him.

Meanwhile, Jonathan has gone back to the hotel. When he doesn't find Tammy he calls and leaves a message that he's coming. He goes to farmhouse and notices a telephone book open at the page for hospitals. When he gets to the hospital, he finds the door and bangs it open with a metal garbage can. Tammy is injured as he carries her out of the room. She tells him she needs to be taken somewhere. They end up at the cliff again. Tammy wonders how they got there. She tells Jonathan that Sandy's death was all her fault as she wasn't honest with him. She should have told him that she loved Jonathan but she just let it go on and on. She is to blame for Sandy dying. Jonathan tells her it's really his fault. He knew Sandy had asked for a divorce from Ava. Jonathan paid off a lawyer to lose the paperwork. He wanted to see Sandy get caught and letting the wedding go forward was the only way he could get that to happen.

Cassie and Josh are at the hospital to release Tammy, but discover she has already gone. Josh tries to comfort Cassie who is upset by her actions. She thinks she's lost Tammy for good.
