Brytni Sarpy is an actress known for playing General Hospital's Valerie Spencer (2015 to 2019) and The Young and the Restless' Elena Dawson, the latter of which she took on in 2019.
Sarpy is a California native who spent most of her childhood in Sherman Oaks and her high school days in Upland. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While auditioning in her pursuit to become an actress, Sarpy worked as a bartender and a personal trainer at Equinox to stay afloat. She also did commercial and print work for companies like AT&T, New Balance, Nike, and Yahoo!
Sarpy got her break in acting when she landed a small role in the film You Again opposite Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver. She followed that with appearances on My Crazy Ex, New Girl, and the TV movies Truth or Dare and Karma.
Sarpy landed the role of GH's Valerie in 2015 after having auditioned for the roles of Taylor DuBois (for which she was too old) and Jordan Ashford (for which she was too young). Unfortunately for her GH fans, the actress was dropped to recurring status with the ABC soap opera in 2016. However, this allowed her to work on other projects like hosting a reality series called The Perfect Pitch, and it lead to The Young and the Restless casting her in the contract role of Elena Dawson in February of 2019. In March of 2019, Sarpy announced that she also landed a recurring role on The Haves and the Have Nots.
Sarpy, who was primarily raised by her father after her parents split up when was six, has four half siblings: a younger half brother, Aiden, through her father, and two half brothers and a half sister on her mother's side.
