Charlie confided in Hope about the hydrofluoric acid in the storage area. Hope raced back to the vat but was unable to locate Thomas or see any traces of him in the bubbly liquid. Hope confessed to her mother that she'd pushed Thomas into a vat of acid and said that the acid had consumed his body. As Ridge and Steffy began to worry about where Thomas could possibly be, the guilt-ridden Hope decided that she had to confess to Ridge that she'd killed his son.

One year in the future, Jennifer awoke from her coma. In the past year, Kristen had killed Haley, which had sent J.J. spiraling into pill addiction. Brady mourned the death of his baby. Abigail and Chad had returned to town, and Chad told Abigail that he was in contact with Stefano. Ben was in prison for murdering Jordan, and he plotted with Ciara to prove that Victor was the real culprit. Will was in prison for Adrienne's death. Eve was in prison for pushing Jennifer off the balcony after Rolf had doctored the surveillance footage. Xander had claimed to be the father of Sarah's baby, and Sarah went along with the lie to keep Eric from the truth. Nicole worked with Brady at Basic Black, and she struggled with the guilt of keeping Eric from the truth about his baby. Eli had taken over as head of security of DiMera and as Gabi's boyfriend. Lani and Kristen prepared to take their vows as nuns. Gabi accidentally set off Julie's pacemaker, but Julie survived. Kayla had started to date Justin. Gina had arranged to send Marlena out of town, and she had moved into the penthouse to get closer to John.

Cassandra lured Charlotte away from Kelly's with the intention of using her as a pawn to manipulate Valentin, but Anna and Jason's timely intervention turned the tides against Cassandra. Cassandra escaped on a boat provided by Valentin, but Valentin had planted a bomb in the getaway vessel. Once Valentin had been assured that his daughter was safe and Cassandra was on the boat, he detonated the explosives by remote. Valentin expressed his gratitude to Anna. After spending the afternoon with Violet and Hayden, Finn invited the two to spend the night. Violet was delighted when Finn and Hayden revealed that Finn was Violet's father. Anna arrived home to find Finn and Hayden in a compromising situation. Carly was stunned when Nikolas revealed himself to her, but he implored her to keep his secret because it would put his entire family in danger if Valentin were to learn that Nikolas was alive and that Mikkos had written a codicil. Ava was surprised when Sonny stopped by Shadybrook with Avery for a visit because he didn't want their daughter to feel any stigma about seeking help for good mental health. Cameron made a full confession to Sonny about stealing Sonny's alcohol. Lucas confronted Julian about setting up Brad. Julian admitted that he had been concerned about Brad, but before Julian could elaborate, Lucas was called away. T.J. suspected that rat poison might be causing Alexis' ailment. Jason and Franco had a talk.

Victor frowned upon Nick's political aspirations. Chance blasted Cane for screwing Devon out of his inheritance. Chance was vague about why he hadn't been in touch with his family. Chance revealed that he was in town as part of a federal sting operation. Adam intervened when he found Simon hassling Chelsea. Simon took Chelsea, Adam, Connor, and Abby hostage in the Grand Phoenix lobby. Simon ordered the hotel to be locked down. Cane observed Amanda's nervous reaction to being trapped in her hotel suite. Chance crawled through the hotel's ventilation system as Phyllis guided him to Simon's location. Abby created a distraction, and Chance dropped through the ceiling and punched Simon. The authorities apprehended Simon. Chelsea and Adam consoled a traumatized Connor, shutting Nick out. The Grand Phoenix hemorrhaged customers. Amanda told Chance that she'd had one phone conversation with the man who'd posed as him, and the man had sounded older than she'd expected. Summer insisted on staying neutral in the conflict between Kyle and Theo. Jack scolded Billy and Kyle when he caught them arguing over business. Jack was irritated when Ashley offered Theo a job in Paris. Nate seemed dismayed when he saw Abby and Chance flirting. Abby became suspicious of Kevin. Chance worried when Phyllis divulged that she'd seen him and Adam together in Las Vegas. After the media fallout over Chelsea's association with Simon, Nick decided to drop out of the election.
