Donald Glover was raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. His father was Donald Glover Sr., and his mother was Beverly Glover. His father worked as a postal worker, and his mother was a daycare provider. Donald lost his father in December 2018. A few weeks later during his L.A. concert, he paid respect to his father. He said, “I lost my father a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to play him some of the new songs. But he didn’t want to hear them because he was like, ‘I know they’ll be great, I’m not saying that to talk about music,’ he said. ‘I say that to talk about trust.’”

His mother, Beverly Glover, continues to support him and even made her acting debut in his show Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024), playing Donald’s mother on screen. One of the show's creators, Francesca Sloane, shared her experience of working with Beverly as an actor. In an interview with Variety, she said, “She was great at sticking to the script, but she was also the queen of improv.” She shared that she was surprised to see Glover with his mother on set and said, “The tenderness that he had toward his mom… Donald is a naughty comic, but around Beverly, he is such a good boy. He directed her as such a good boy.”

Donald Glover grew up with 2 siblings - a sister, Brianne Glover, and a younger brother Stephen Glover. Stephen is a writer, producer, and actor. He has worked closely with his brother Donald. Stephen has written episodes for Atlanta and other projects.
