AMC alum Abigail Spencer lands the role of Megan Hunt on Grey's Anatomy

All My Children alum Abigail Spencer (ex-Rebecca Tyree) is replacing Bridget Regan in the role of newly returned Grey's Anatomy character Megan Hunt.

It looks like All My Children alum Abigail Spencer (ex-Rebecca Tyree) is scrubbing up and checking in to Grey's Anatomy.

The former daytime star has been chosen to replace Bridget Regan in the role of Megan Hunt, Owen's (Kevin McKidd) presumed-dead sister on the ABC series.

Regan, who wasn't able to return due to a scheduling conflict with her new series, The Last Ship, took to Twitter to celebrate the casting of Spencer in the recurring role.

"Thanks for the all the love guys!" she tweeted. "@abigailspencer is an incredible actor, tip top lady and will be a BRILLIANT Megan on #GreysAnatomy"

After leaving AMC in 2001, Spencer went on to find mainstream fame in series like Mad Men, Rectify, Suits, and True Detective. She currently stars in Timeless, which reportedly starts production on its surprise second season this November.

"FYI: @BridgetRegan is irreplaceable!" Spencer tweeted about her new Grey's Anatomy role. "She had a scheduling conflict & my #Timeless schedule allowed me to be her back up dancer! #honored"

Grey's Anatomy's season fourteen debuts with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, September 28. As viewers may recall, season thirteen ended with Nathan (Martin Henderson) joyfully racing off to join Owen and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) for Megan's arrival by chopper. Megan, whose mental state remained a mystery, "appeared" briefly in the episode, but a body double stood in for Regan.
