Ripa, Consuelos, and Rao team up on new ABC comedy

All My Children vets Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are producing a new primetime comedy. Ripa joined AMC as Hayley Vaughan in 1990. Consuelos joined the show in 1995. Both exited in 2002.

Husband and wife team Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are developing a comedy for ABC. Soap fans will remember Ripa and Consuelos as Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos on All My Children. Ripa enjoyed a twelve-year stay in Pine Valley, during which she met, fell in love with, and later married Consuelos.

Since her AMC departure, Ripa has maintained a presence on daytime TV as host of Live! Consuelos recently appeared in American Horror Story: Asylum and has filmed a pilot, Alpha House, for Amazon TV.

Together, the two head a production company, Milojo Productions, which will be producing the as yet untitled comedy. According to deadline.com, the show will center on a free-spirited woman in Brooklyn who is raising two kids and running a design company with three friends.

The soap opera connection doesn't end with Ripa and Consuelos. Sri Rao, who will be the head writer on the series, was also the head writer for General Hospital: Night Shift.
