All My Children vet Denise Vasi (ex-Randi Hubbard) has been cast in VH1's hourlong comedy, Single Ladies.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Vasi has been cast in the role of Raquel, a new lead that will star opposite LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea.
"Denise is the perfect addition to the Single Ladies cast," the series executive producer, Queen Latifah, said in a statement. "She is bringing a fun, new element to the show."
Raquel is described as a close friend of Keisha (played by McCoy), who is a businesswoman from a prominent Southern family. Raquel, however, is looking for a change.
"It was a rare and wonderful moment during the audition when everyone in the room immediately knew we had found our Raquel," said VH1's executive vice president of original production and programming, Jeff Olde. "Denise's beauty, style, grace, and humor leap from the screen."
Though VH1 has created its own original content for some time, Single Ladies is VH1's first hourlong scripted series. In its first season, the first two airings averaged 2.8 million viewers.
The second season of Single Ladies begins production in Atlanta in January. A first airdate has not yet been set, but the series is expected to be back on-air just in time for the summer.
