Four more AMC vets returning before ABC finale

Pine Valley will host a homecoming celebration for four more of its most memorable former residents. Adam Chandler, Brooke English, and Joe and Ruth Martin will all be headed home in September.

All My Children fans will be graced by the return of four more veteran performers before the series wraps its run on ABC in September. The network has confirmed that Julia Barr (Brooke English), David Canary (Adam Chandler), Ray MacDonnell (Joe Martin), and Lee Meriwether (Ruth Martin) will all return to Pine Valley later this summer.

In February 2010, Canary announced that he would be retiring from daytime television and a role that made him a household name. As twins Adam and Stuart, Canary has earned the Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy on five different occasions -- 1988, 1989, 1993, 1995, and 2001. He has received an additional nine nominations.

Barr returned to AMC last year to help usher Canary's character off the canvas. Barr joined the cast of All My Children in 1976. She exited the show in 1980, but returned two years later. She remained with the show for the next 24 years, before being written out of the show. Barr is a two-time Emmy winner, picking up Supporting Actress wins in 1990 and 1998.

MacDonnell, an original All My Children cast member, also retired from daytime after a long run with the ABC soap. In 2009, MacDonnell opted not to relocate with All My Children when production moved from New York to Los Angeles. MacDonnell last aired in January 2010 as part of the show's 40th anniversary tribute. MacDonnell received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys in 2005.

Meriwether joined the AMC family in 1996 after the retirement of the show's original Ruth, Mary Fickett. Meriwether appeared regularly on the show for three years, and has popped up sporadically since that time as storyline required. The actress last appeared on-screen in March 2011.

First airdates are not yet available.
