After less than six months on the job, Alana de la Garza (Rosa Santos) has been released from All My Children.

According to published reports, de la Garza was notified by the show that the character was being taken in a new direction. De la Garza is the second immediate casualty of the show's new writing regime. In August, Eric Dearborn (Gabriel Devane) was notified that his character was being written off of the AMC canvas. Somewhat ironically, Gabriel and Rosa were rumored to have been on course to be a couple.

De la Garza states that she enjoyed her time - albeit brief - on All My Children. However, her first few weeks were not as smooth as she would have hoped. The actress admits that she checked out Internet message boards to see what fans thought of her work and was mortified by some of what she read. Most of the mean-spirited messages questioned de la Garza's age and the perceived appearance that she was way too old to be playing a high school student. De la Garza admits that some of AMC's behind-the-scenes crewmembers help comfort her after reading some of these less than nice postings.

De la Garza is already planning her post-AMC run. The actress reports that she is testing for a role in a remake of Carmen. While de la Garza has appeared in several music videos, she also asserts that she can sing too. She is also said to be on the lookout for primetime roles as well. In spite of the quick ouster from AMC, de la Garza doesn't rule out a return to daytime at some point.

Though originally the role of Rosa was expected to be recast, a show spokesperson now tells Soap Central that "there are no plans" to recast the role.
