At A Glance

Raised in rural West Texas, Brad Maule attended Stephen F. Austin University, graduating cum laude with a B.F.A. in theater and English. The actor, who grew up on a farm, was educated at one of the last remaining country schools (which had an enrollment of 150 students in 12 grades).

Soon after he journeyed to Los Angeles to get into the acting profession, Brad was cast in many productions. At the Westwood Playhouse, he starred in Billy Barnes' musical revue, Movie Star, for seven months. He portrayed Hamlet in Somethin's Rockin' in Denmark at the Odyssey Theater Ensemble in Los Angeles. In 1983, he won the DramaLogue Award for his performance in the two-character musical, Stephen Sondheim's Marry Me a Little.

In addition to his 14 years on General Hospital and numerous other guest-starring roles, Brad is also a popular talk-show co-host, having shared the duties on A.M. Los Angeles, Home, and Live! With Regis & Kathie Lee, among others.

Brad is also a writer and performer of country music. His first album, called Livin' It Up, received popular acclaim; and he later added a second CD/video to his portfolio, entitled Chameleon. Most recently, Brad performed two songs, one of which he wrote, on The Music of General Hospital.

Throughout his career, Brad has found time to contribute to his community. He co-hosted the annual West Texas Rehabilitation Telethon in Abilene, Texas, which helps raise more than a million dollars each year for the victims of stroke, heart disease, and other medical problems requiring physical therapy. Brad's own brother was a patient at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Brad has also endowed scholarships for students of theater at both Stephen F. Austin University and his high school in Snyder, Texas.

In his spare time, Brad and his family enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. For relaxation, he likes to paint abstracts in acrylics and charcoal. He and his wife, Laverne, live in Los Angeles with their two sons and a daughter: Michael Benjamin, Hunter Nix and Lily Alexandra Nix.
