Daytime alums Vivica A. Fox (ex-Carmen Silva, Days of our Lives; ex-Maya Reuben, Generations; and ex-Stephanie Simmons, The Young and the Restless) and Taye Diggs (ex-Adrian "Sugar" Hill, Guiding Light) will be appearing as celebrity guests on the US version of the UK hit game show The Wheel. The show will air on NBC for a two-week holiday takeover.
The Wheel will be hosted by renowned British comedian Michael McIntyre. According to NBC Universal's press release, "the series features suspenseful high-stakes trivia, laugh-out-loud moments and more than 50 all-star guests seated on a spectacular 42-foot-wide spinning wheel. Created and hosted by McIntyre, each hourlong episode follows six celebrity guests spinning, advising and supporting charismatic contestants as they endeavor to be the last one standing. As the contestants vie for the chance to win over $100,000, the celebrities lend their expertise in a variety of hilarious and outrageous categories from candy and comedians to poker and politics."
During the first week of the series, Fox will be joined by Mike "The Miz" Mizanin, JoJo, John Urschel, Captain Sandy Yawn, and Bruno Tonioli. The following week, Diggs will be joined by Ester Dean, Josh Flagg, Lyric Lewis, Jalen Rose, and Christine Chiu.
The all-star lineup also includes Clay Aiken, Margaret Cho, Carole Baskin, Deepak Chopra, Cat Cora, Debbie Gibson, Amber Riley, Judge Greg Mathis, Tony Hawk, Bobby Birk, Raven-Symone, Amber Ruffin, Tori Spelling, and more. Since leaving daytime, Fox and Diggs have gone on to have successful careers in movies and television. Fox's work includes films such as Independence Day, Two Can Play That Game, Soul Food, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, Kill Bill: Volume 1, and Kill Bill: Volume 2. Her television credits include Getting Personal, City of Angels, Martin, Dancing with the Stars, and Black-ish. She competed as Mother Nature on the sixth season of the Fox series The Masked Singer and from 2003-2006, she starred in and co-produced the Lifetime drama series Missing. She also starred in Lifetime's TV mini-series Keeping Up with the Joneses.
Diggs's work includes films such as How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Best Man, The House on Haunted Hill, Chicago, and Rent. His television credits include Ally McBeal, The West Wing, Grey's Anatomy, and Empire, and he competed on the Paramount Network series Lip Sync Battle. He currently stars as head football coach Billy Baker on All American. The sports drama series is now in its fifth season on the CW. He will be reprising his role as Harper Stewart in the ten-episode series The Best Man Wedding: The Final Chapters. The limited series is set to premiere on Peacock December 22.
The Wheel premieres on NBC on December 19, with new episodes airing nightly at 10pm ET/PT. The following week, episodes will air at 8pm ET/PT. Fox will appear on the December 20 episode titled "Boats, Soaps, and Wrestling Ropes." Trivia categories will range from soap operas to mathematics. Diggs will appear on the December 28 episode titled "Sky Hooks and the Almighty Book." Trivia categories will include topics on the Bible, real estate, plastic surgery, and more.
