The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has taken a page out of Soap Central's book by creating an Emmy portal of spectacular proportions. The organization just released an app, simply called The Emmys, which is now available for downloading.
Powered by over-the-top (OTT) technology by Vimeo, the platform allows fans to access the National Academy's Emmy programming on nearly every major web browser, mobile device and "set top" streaming device. The Emmy app also features exclusive "Behind the Emmy" interviews, historical archives, memorable moments from past Emmy ceremonies, and more.
"Television programming and its underlying technology have each gone through immense change over the more than seven decades the Emmys have recognized excellence in both facets of our industry," said Adam Sharp, NATAS President & CEO. Working with Vimeo, we now bring our celebration of this dynamic community of creators to all of the devices the audience uses to watch the television programming they love."

Originally planned to be released earlier this year, The Emmys app has unfortunately come a little too late for the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which happened in June. However, the app has dropped just in time to watch the upcoming ceremonies this summer -- including the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards: Digital Dramas on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at 9PM ET/6PM PT; the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards: Children's, Lifestyle & Animation on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at 8PM ET/5 PM PT; the 41st Annual Sports Emmy Awards on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 8PM ET/5PM PT; and the 41st Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards in September.
The Emmys app is free, and all you have to do to unlock all of the fun is sign up. The Emmys is available on the web, as well as for iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.
