There are changes afoot for the 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards. The ceremony has been moved up in the calendar year to April, meaning that the pre-nominations and nominations processes will also begin earlier than usual. The last time the Emmys were handed out so early in the year was back in 2006 when the 33rd Annual Daytime Emmys were held April 28 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Performer pre-nominations will be due by Friday, November 28 -- the day after Thanksgiving. After a round of voting, the final nominees will be announced on Tuesday, March 26. That all leads up to the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony, which will be held Sunday, April 26.
There will also be at least one new category on the ballot. After several years of requests, NATAS has created the Guest Performer in a Drama Series and category. There is also a new category for Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series, which would include actors of web series.
Pre-nominations in the performance categories will be announced on February 4, 2015. The final nominations will be revealed on March 26, 2015.
There's no word yet on exactly where the Daytime Emmy telecast will be held. The Beverly Hilton has played home to the awardsfest for the past four years. There is also no word on where the ceremony will be broadcast. The 2014 event was streamed online to mixed results. There has been talk that TVGN (now POP) might have an interest in broadcasting the ceremony.
