Former soap opera and Seinfeld actor Daniel von Bargen dies at 64

Former AMC and GL star Daniel von Bargen passed away this week.

Former All My Children and Guiding Light actor Daniel von Bargen died on Sunday, March 1, following a five-year battle with failing health, Variety reports.

The actor, who played AMC's Lt. Cody in 1994 and 1995 and GL's Joe Morrison in 1993, is most known for his role as Mr. Kruger, the lazy boss of Seinfeld's George (Jason Alexander).

In addition to his Seinfeld and soap opera roles, the Cincinnati native appeared on Malcolm in the Middle, NYPD Blue, The X-Files, and The West Wing, as well as in films like The Silence of the Lambs, Basic Instinct, Broken Arrow, O, Brother Where Art Thou?, and The Postman.

The actor also had quite a stage résumé, having appeared in shows like Broadway's Mastergate after spending years with the Trinity Repertory Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
