Don Wollman, a co-executive producer of the show, is behind the iconic voice in “Big Brother.” The American reality competition series premiered on CBS in 2000 and shadows a group of contestants, known on-screen as “Houseguests.” They live isolated in a house equipped with cameras and microphones that record them constantly. Their actions are broadcast on television and streamed online via the “Big Brother Live Feeds.”
Season 26 winner Chelsie Baham took home a cash reward of $750,000. “Big Brother USA” is the oldest continuing adaptation of this global franchise. The upcoming Season 27 of the show is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2025, with Julie Chen Moonves returning as host.
Who voices Big Brother?

Don Wollman’s voice as Big Brother played a crucial role in shaping the show’s identity, as well as the way in which the Houseguests experience the game. In the show’s debut season, various producers would speak directly into the house, but that changed in Season 2. Executive producers Allison Grodner and Arnold Shapiro sought for consistency in the messaging. Wollman was asked if he would be willing to take on the role, and he’s been the voice of Big Brother ever since.
His signature line, “Please come to the Diary Room,” is one of the most recognized phrases from the show. In a 2016 interview, Wollman shared that many Houseguests assume he speaks to them in real-time, but most of the messages are pre-recorded and played back as required.
Occasionally, producers do ask him to record something new, but otherwise, it’s the same clips being replayed. Certain contestants have claimed that his tone changes depending on the situation, at times stern and at other times amused, however, Wollman maintains that it’s always the same recording.
While Wollman handles in-house messaging, Clayton Halsey who worked as an editor on the show until 2022, was behind the narration of the high-energy promotional segments. He’s the voice behind the iconic, “Previously on Big Brother” intros and has also voiced Otev in the past.
Wollman and Halsey have been an integral part of the “Big Brother USA” viewing experience. Whether through the in-house instructions or the dramatic promos, their voices have become defining elements of this long-running franchise.
