Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8, titled Isle of Joy, opens with Wilson Bethel's Benjamin Poindexter, or Ben. The episode reveals something interesting about the way this character perceives the world around him. From his perspective, the world looks blue and, thus, the screen itself turns blue when the scene shifts to Poindexter's perspective.
However, the episode's most grisly moment comes halfway through, as Benjamin Poindexter escapes the prison. Poindexter, or Bullseye, escapes prison by spitting out his tooth and using it as a projectile against a guard in this Daredevil: Born Again episode. While this scene is gruesome, it should be noted that it is directly taken from the panels of Marvel Comics storyline from 2004, titled Bullseye: Greatest Hits.
What happens in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8?
In this Daredevil: Born Again episode, Matt Murdock realizes something about Foggy's death. Before receiving the phone call back in the prologue of the first episode, Foggy was in a celebratory mood. Thus, the person who hired Benjamin Poindexter wanted to silence Foggy before they were exposed in court. Matt believes that Wilson Fisk is the man who hired Poindexter to kill Foggy.
Thus, Matt goes to Rikers Prison to interrogate Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye. Ben wants Matt's help to get out of gen pop, and in return, he will reveal the truth behind Foggy's death. Matt refuses and smashes Ben's head over the table, but it may not have been a wise choice. That's because it gives Poindexter his next weapon, a dislocated tooth.
Ben is taken to the hospital to heal the wounds he got from Matt smashing his head on the table. When the doctor is done with him, the guard comes to cuff Poindexter because anything in his hands can become a weapon, as Season 3 of Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again have shown. Poindexter aims his mouth at the Guard and spits at the latter's eye.
After that, Poindexter frees himself and kills the guard and doctor. After that, the dangerous, violent assassin heads to the fundraiser party organized by Mayor Fisk to wreak havoc. His target is Wilson himself, but Matt shockingly takes the bullet meant for the former, ending the episode.
We also learn who hired Bullseye to kill Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again
Isle of Joy ties to the first Daredevil: Born Again episode, Heaven's Half Hour, as the person who wanted Foggy dead is finally revealed, and it isn't Wilson Fisk. Rather, it is his wife Vanessa Fisk, who was in charge of Wilson's empire a year ago, at the time of Foggy's death. Matt also figures this out but it is implied that Wilson isn't aware of Vanessa's role in Foggy's death.
Before Matt can do anything about it, he realizes that Poindexter is in the room and aiming at Wilson Fisk. He ultimately takes the bullet for Wilson in the concluding moments of the episode, giving the episode a cliffhanger ending.
Isle of Joy, the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again, is currently streaming on Disney+.
