Among the vast galaxy of sitcoms, The Big Bang Theory has carved out a devoted fan base—so much so that its universe continues to expand with spin-off shows.

TBBT debuted in 2007 and quickly became one of the most popular modern sitcoms, which eventually gave way to its first spin-off series, Young Sheldon. The show, based on Jim Parsons' Sheldon's formative years, debuted in 2017 and also became a harrowing success. The prequel series' success led to another spin-off series Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

Finally, TBBT's universe is about to expand even further with Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, which is based on Kevin Sussman's Staurt Bloom, a comic book owner in the parent series. The spin-off show will also mark the return of Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie as Bert, Denise, and Barren, respectively.

While the new spin-off promises to explore an underrated character from TBBT, fans are eager to learn whether the OG cast will return to the upcoming Stuart spin-off.

In a recent interview with Deadline, WB executive Channing Dungey broke his silence on the same, hinting that fans should not await the OG cast's return with bated breath. While they can still be featured in the future, Stuart's spin-off will primarily focus on its main characters.

Riding on the success of The Big Bang Theory and its two subsequent spin-offs, the makers are determined to expand the franchise through another spin-off, focused on the character of Staurt Bloom.

While Stuart was a recurring character in the parent show, he was often sidelined by the main characters, and the new spin-off series could be an excellent way to tell his story. Considering The Big Bang Theory's main cast spent many hours in his comic book store in the parent show, fans are eager to know whether they will pop in in the spin-off.

Talking to Deadline, WB executive Channing Dungey finally addressed the OG star cast return:

''I would never say never. We’re very excited and focused on our series regulars who have great stuff to do in these episodes.''

Dungey's comments indicate that the new series will first prioritize and flesh out the story of its main characters, and the OG cast cameos might or might not happen in the future.

While Jim Parsons acted as Young Sheldon's narrator throughout the show, he physically appeared with Mayim Bialik (Amy) only in the series finale. Stuart Fails To Save The Universe might also fill in some details and surprise its audiences with the OG cast, but before that, it will tell the story of Stuart and those around him.

Further discussing the writing process of The Big Bang Theory's spin-off show, Dungey teased:

''Chuck, Zak and Bill are hard at work writing stuff. We’ve seen some material at the studio, and we’ve had some creative conversations with Max, so we are hopeful for good news soon.''

He added:

''They [scripts] are creative, they are imaginative, and they are, most importantly, very, very funny.''
