The Accountant is an American action-thriller film directed by Gavin O'Connor. The film was released on October 14, 2016, and it was written by Bill Dubuque. The cast of the film includes Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow. The film was a hit at the box office, made with a budget of $44 million and it earned $155.2 million. The story follows Christian Wolff, played by Ben Affleck. He is a mathematics genius with high-functioning autism.
Christian leads a double life. He runs a small-town CPA office by day, and at night, he works as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. He helps them "uncook" their books. His strong math skills and combat training make him powerful in both finance and crime. The film explores Christian's life, his childhood, and the challenges he faces due to his condition. His brother Braxton Wolff is an important part of his life though they have a difficult relationship. Let’s take a look at what happens to Christian's brother in The Accountant.
What happened to Christian's brother in The Accountant?

Christian Wolff's younger brother Braxton Wolff is also called Brax. Their father was a military officer who raised them strictly. He believed in making them strong through hard martial arts training and tough experiences. Their father wanted Christian to handle his autism and he prepared both the brothers for a tough world. When they grew up, the brothers drifted apart. Each of them followed a different path based on their father's lessons. Christian becomes a forensic accountant for criminal organizations, while Brax turns into a skilled hitman. Their paths cross unexpectedly when Christian investigates financial errors at Living Robotics, a company involved in illegal activities.
Christian didn’t know that Brax was employed by the company's CEO, Lamar Blackburn, to kill threats to the organization. The brothers meet in the film's climax, facing tension and unresolved feelings. After a fierce fight, they recognize each other and make peace with each other. Their reunion shows their strong bond, even after their years apart and the different paths they've taken. They work together to stop Blackburn and expose the corruption, bringing justice to those involved in the corruption. The film ends with the brothers parting ways but with an understanding that their bond remains strong, leaving the potential for future collaborations.
Who plays Christian's brother in The Accountant?

Jon Bernthal plays Braxton Wolff in the film. He is an American actor known for his strong and intense performances. He was born on September 20, 1976, in Washington, D.C. He studied acting at The Moscow Art Theatre in Russia and later at Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training. Bernthal started his acting career with small roles in TV shows and films.
He made his film debut with Mary/Mary (2002), and he appeared in many TV shows like Law & Order and CSI: Miami. He gained popularity for his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead (2010–2012 & 2018). He played the popular character of Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, in the Marvel series Daredevil (2016) and later in his own show, The Punisher (2017-2019). His other notable roles include The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Fury (2014), Sicario (2015), Baby Driver (2017), and Ford v Ferrari (2019).
In an interview with UPROXX, Jon Bernthal talked about how The Accountant is a fan favorite. He said, “The people who made it really, really cared. It was a really, really cool script with a great filmmaker. Ben (Affleck) is incredible in the film. But I think, also, it’s dealing with like issues of brotherhood, fathers and sons, autism, sort of special needs learning, and this sort of like the uncharted territory of autism. How new and fresh that is, and the capabilities of some of these folks are so intriguing. So it really does hit upon them, and it’s an awesome action move too.”
