Broke is a forthcoming film in the Western drama genre. Carlyle Eubank has written and directed this film, and it will be released on May 6, 2025, in video on demand and online platforms. Here's the official synopsis:

"A bronc rider in denial about his fading rodeo career battles against brain injury and a sudden blizzard while reflecting on how it became so difficult to achieve his dreams."

The makers recently released the film's official trailer, which features Wyatt Russell and Dennis Quaid in important roles. So, let us take a look at the trailer and other details of the film.

On April 10, 2025, the makers of Broke released its official trailer. It opens with the main character, played by Wyatt Russell, on the back of a horse. The slow-motion scene is accompanied by his voice-over, which says,

"Nothing and nobody can make me feel alive as I do when I'm on the back of that horse for eight seconds."

The trailer then transitions to a snow-filled terrace, showing a blizzard that has taken place. We are then introduced to several scenes and moments from the film that build towards a crescendo.

The trailer overall gives a feel of Paramount Network's television series Yellowstone, which has the same rustic and countryside landscape setting. Ever since the show concluded in December 2024, there has been a void of similar storytelling. Fans can expect the film to fill that space.

Broke is produced by Wyatt Russell, Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley, Jack Hearst, Terry Dougas, Victoria Vaughn, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, David Frigerio, and John Stalberg Jr. Here are its cast members:

  • Wyatt Russell
  • Dennis Quaid
  • Auden Thornton
  • Johnny Berchtold
  • Tom Skerritt
  • Mary McDonnell
  • Jackie Vetter as Maria
  • Aaron Murtagh as Boyd
  • John Budge
  • Tami Renner as Nurse
  • Gillian Todd as Lacy
  • Aubrie McCall as Cara
  • Ray Champ as an announcer

Both Quaid and Russell have had their brush with the Western genre. The son of Kurt Russell has done Cowboy & Alien, which blends Western with science fiction. Meanwhile, Quaid has done his share of films like The Long Riders and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

Earlier, Wyatt gave an interview to the People Magazine, where he spoke about the film. He hinted that we mostly see the positive side of rodeos and not their shady side. So audiences can expect the latter to be shown in the film. He said,

“We’re so used to seeing the bright side of rodeo and the bravado of the façade. But we never get to see the darker side of what it can be as well. Sometimes you can hang on a little too long, and like any aspect of life, it's no different in a bronc rider's life.”

The executive producers of the film include Adam Burger, Jean-Luc De Fanti, Carlyle Eubank, Steve Hearst, Alex Hertzberg, Oliver Hudson, Max Work, and Alexis Varouxakis.

The trailer manages to create a sense of anticipation, especially for fans of the Western genre that has been missing from the scene for several years.
