Born on December 19th, 1980, Jake Gyllenhaal is an American actor who has worked on both screen and stage for over 30 years. He was born in the well-known Gyllenhaal family and is the son of film director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner. He started as a child actor with roles in his father’s films after his debut in City Slickers but his breakthrough didn’t come until the late 1990s and early 2000s with his roles in October Sky and Donnie Darko.
Gyllenhaal then earned his first nomination for an Academy Award for his role in Brokeback Mountain which was only the start for him.
