Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an upcoming animated web television series in the United States. It is the third animated series and the twenty-fifth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series will be available on Disney+ and is produced by Marvel Animation. The first season will be released on January 29, 2025. The same-titled prequel comic was published on December 11, 2024.
The show, which is set in a different timeline from the main MCU films and television shows, focuses on Peter Parker's early years as Spider-Man and his origin story. Norman Osborn, rather than Tony Stark, serves as Parker's mentor in this parallel universe.
The creative team opted to go to an alternate timeline because they felt that the original plan to set it in the regular MCU continuity was too limiting. This allowed the series to explore well-known concepts and characters in new ways.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man synopsis

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man delves into Peter Parker's early years and genesis tale as Spider-Man. Similar to the "Sacred Timeline" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the series takes place in a different multiverse timeline where Norman Osborn mentors Parker rather than Tony Stark.
The series tells the origin story of Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, which was never thoroughly explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. In 2015, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, stated that the studios "take it for granted that people know that" because there had already been two versions of the character's origin in the Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb. As a result, the studios decided not to tell the story in Captain America: Civil War (2016), the character's first appearance in the MCU.
Originally, the series was supposed to take place in the MCU's "Sacred Timeline" before the Civil War, but the creative team felt that this was too limited in terms of the characters and comic book concepts that could be used. Taking advantage of the MCU's multiverse concept, they chose to shift the series to a different timeline. The plot starts similarly to the Civil War, but instead of Tony Stark/Iron Man serving as Parker's mentor, Norman Osborn does so, introducing Parker to other surprising people.
Inspiration for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
According to Trammell, the show will delve into Parker's identity before he became Spider-Man and the origins of his superhero life. The early Stan Lee and Steve Ditko comic books, as well as earlier Spider-Man animated shows, served as inspiration for the creative team.

Trammell specifically drew inspiration from The Spectacular Spider-Man's character development (2008–09). As he battles Venom, Parker is bitten by a spider that falls out of a portal made by Dr. Stephen Strange in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which links Spider-Man's origin to magic rather than science like in the comics.
