Gi-hun returns and enters the game again, a year after winning the Squid Game in an effort to get even with the Front Man and end the game for good. The Front Man's brother, police officer Jun-ho, will accompany him and assist him in disrupting the game as well as in stopping and recovering his brother.
In order to make sure that as many people as possible may live, he will once more form teams with new players, including his friend Jung-bae. Now that he has complete control over the game after Il-nam's passing, the Front Man will attempt to convince Gi-hun that the true character of people prevents him from ending the games.

They are constantly watched over by masked guards in pink jumpsuits. Soon after, the participants learn that losing a game causes them to die, and each death adds ₩100 million to the possible ₩45.6 billion grand prize.
While detective Hwang Jun-ho infiltrates the games as one of the guards in order to locate his missing brother, Gi-hun forms alliances with other players, including his childhood friend Cho Sang-woo and North Korean defector Kang Sae-byeok, in an attempt to survive the psychological and physical twists of the games.
