Rami Malek has won 28 awards and received 51 award nominations across his decorated career. Malek was born on May 12, 1981, in Los Angeles, California. He graduated in 1999 from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, and in 2003 from University of Evansville in Indiana, from where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.


His career in TV began with the comedy-drama “Gilmore Girls (2000- 2007) where he guest-starred as Andy. He went on to play Timothy Kercher in “Medium (2005)” and Hassan in “Over There.” Malek also lent his voice to the animated series “The Legend of Korra (2012), where he voiced Tahno, and BoJack Horseman (2017), where he voiced Flip McVicker. Malek’s most celebrated performance on television is of Elliot Alderson, a genius cybersecurity engineer, in “The Robot (2015).” The role earned him several prestigious awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award in 2016.


His first film role was as Pharaoh Ahkmenrah in the 2006 fantasy-comedy film “Night at the Museum.” He went on to star in two other sequels in the film series. Malek also appeared as Benjamin in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2 (2012)” and as the primary antagonist Lyutsifer Safin in “No Time to Die (2021).” His most critically acclaimed film “Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), where he portrayed the rock band Queen’s lead vocalist Freddie Mercury, secured him an Academy Award in 2019.

His portrayal of Elliot Alderson in “The Robot (2015)” earned him 5 awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award in the category “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” in 2016. Additionally, in 2016, he also received a Critics Choice Award, an OFTA Television Award, an INOCA TV Award, and a Gold Derby TV Award for Best Actor.


For his performance in “Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)” Malek earned 19 awards, including an Oscar in 2019 for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.” For his depiction of Freddie Mercury, he also won a BAFTA Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, A Satellite Award, A Screen Actors Guild Award, an IFC Award, A CinEuphotia Award, and a Golden Schmoes Award, among many others. For his role as Davil Hill, he, along with the cast of “Oppenheimer (2023),” also won a Gold Derby Film Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Rami Malek portrays Douglas Kelley in the upcoming historical thriller movie “Nuremberg.” Directed by James Vanderbilt, the film is based on Jack El-Hai’s 2013 book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.”


Rami Malek will feature in James Hawes’ upcoming action thriller movie “The Amateur” where he plays an introverted CIA cryptographer, Charlie Heller. His life takes a completely unexpected turn after a terrorist attack in London causes the death of his wife. Also starring Rachel Brosnahan and Jon Bernthal, the film is set for a theatrical release in the US on April 11, 2025.
