In a heartwarming turn of events, former collegiate athlete Jack Bech has made his dream of a career in professional sports a reality. The wide receiver from TCU cemented the moment as truly unforgettable in the hearts and minds of the sports world when he decided to share the honor with his late brother Martin “Tiger” Bech.
Martin was one of the 14 people who tragically lost their lives in a terror attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day. When Jack was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders as the 58th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the 22 year old kept his brother close to his heart. Jack described the moment as "a two-for-one deal" and vowed that he’d “make sure everybody in this world knows Tiger’s name.” Ultimately Jack’s thoughts were profound yet simple at the same time,
"Not only do they get me, they get Tiger too"
A history of the Bech brothers
Martin, who was affectionately called 'Tiger', was also a star athlete like his brother. He played football at the esteemed Princeton University where he was a contributing factor on the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League Championship teams. In light of his special performances he also earned two All-Ivy honors. Upon graduating, Martin worked as a trader at Seaport Global, a New York City capital markets firm. This information has since been corroborated by their mother, Michelle via ABC News.
Jack Bech was 5 years younger than his late brother Martin at the time of his passing. Martin was ultimately laid to rest in Lafayette, Louisiana among his family and friends at 27 years old. It’s clear that “Tiger’s” memory lives on through Jack who is still motivated by his elder brother’s tutelage and lead-by-example mentality.
"He'd tell me one thing, for me to get ready, to keep on going. To keep pushing. He’s brought me to new heights. He’s brought me places I didn’t know I could go, just with dedication and willingness to just go out and work.”
Martin was never one to skirt or cheat the process, another philosophy Jack has embraced wholeheartedly,
"You know, whenever you know, late night, early mornings, he’s going to keep bringing me further and further and further. And I dedicate my whole career to him.”
Jack appears to be the exact type of young mind that’s sorely needed; someone who is dedicated to his work and honors the value of his family above all else. Time will tell how his pro career unfolds, but one thing is certain, he’s made himself easy to root for.
