DAYS' writer reveals future plans for Chabby, while Marci Miller bids Billy Flynn adieu on his final day as Chad

Today is the day that fans must say goodbye to Days of our Lives' Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Kate Mansi), and the latter's former portrayer, Marci Miller, has a special goodbye of her own. Meanwhile, head writer Ron Carlivati reveals his future plans for Chabby.

The heart-wrenching moment Days of our Lives fans have been dreading is here: today is the day that popular pairing Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Kate Mansi) leave the canvas. Viewers of the show are taking to social media to share their goodbyes, and so has someone else rather special to the couple: Abigail's former portrayer, Marci Miller.

As fans may recall, the actress took on the role of Chad's other half when Mansi left DAYS in 2016. Miller decided to exit the series in 2018, which led to Mansi temporarily returning in order to give Abigail a proper on-screen sendoff. Now that the farewell moment is here, the actress has taken to Instagram to wish Billy Flynn well.

"I knew this day was coming, and that I didn't want to miss it. It was Billy Flynn's last day, so I found myself walking through the doors of Burbank Studios for the first time since my own exit," Miller shares of her former co-star's final moments working in Salem. "I wanted to hear them call his name over the loudspeaker one last time, and witness his final words as Chad DiMera. I sat on a stool in the dark, watching, tearing up at all he had given over the last four years, and how difficult it can be to walk away from it all. I followed him around like a kid as he said his goodbyes and carried a big bag of shoes to his car. Welcome to the other side, my friend. The whole world has been waiting for you."

Flynn saw Miller's moving message and responded with, "My love for you is infinite!"

News that Flynn would be exiting the role he's played since 2014 came last August, while it's been known to fans for quite some time that Mansi's return to the canvas last year would be temporary. How Chad and Abigail would leave the canvas has been a mystery, so fans of the couple are no doubt relieved that the popular pair is getting a happy ending: viewers who tune in to today's episode will see the couple tie the knot in front of family and friends then leave town together.

DAYS has yet to reveal whether or not they plan to recast the roles of Chad and Abigail in the near future or if the couple will bask in an unseen happily ever after for the time being. However, head writer Ron Carlivati says he would love to see the couple come back, especially given how difficult it was to write them off the canvas.

"It was kind of agonizing to make the decision that Chad will exit the canvas with Abigail, [but] I decided that was the best thing for the couple, it was the best thing for the fans and it was the best thing for the show," he says in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. "The way that they exit is very, very open-ended. It's not like someone is going to die. They leave happy and the door is completely open for them to come back. As much as I'm sure some people will be sad to see them go, I think they'll be happy to see them go together. It just seemed so unfair to not give them a happy ending. And I just didn't see how that happy ending would work if Chad stayed in Salem and Abigail left... Obviously, if the time is right, the story is right, and the people are available, they'll be back."
