John-Paul Lavoisier joins DAYS as Philip Kiriakis

Former One Life to Live star John-Paul Lavoisier (ex-Rex Balsom) is heading to Days of our Lives' Salem to play the beloved character of Philip.

Days of our Lives fans have been hoping and praying that Philip Kiriakis will make a grand return to Salem, as have Soap Central's Two Scoops columnists. And it seems everyone's wishes are coming true, because former One Life to Live star John-Paul Lavoisier (ex-Rex Balsom) is taking on the beloved role!

Soap Opera Digest reports that the Pennsylvania native has already starting filming as the character and will begin airing as Victor (John Aniston) and Kate's (Lauren Koslow) son in December.

Lavoisier, who played OLTL's Rex from 2002 to 2012 and currently stars on the web soap Winterthorne, is taking over the role from previous portrayers Kyle Brandt, who played Philip from 2003 to 2006, and Jay Kenneth Johnson, who played the character from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2007 to 2011.

The character was last seen leaving town with the child believed to be his son, Parker, in an attempt to protect him from his mother, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), who was suffering from depression. At this time, there's no word on whether or not Lavoisier's first appearances will coincide with Bjorlin's upcoming return to Salem.

What do you think about Lavosier taking on the role of Philip Kiriakis? Do you think he's a good fit for the character? And what do you think will bring Philip back to Salem?
