Jackie Zeman headed back to General Hospital

Jackie Zeman headed back to General Hospital

Another General Hospital favorite is headed back to the screen. Jackie Zeman, who created the role of Bobbie Spencer in 1977, has confirmed that she's been asked back to the show. Zeman was last seen on-screen in 2010.

For many months, fans have been wondering why Nurse Bobbie Spencer hasn't been seen in the corridors of General Hospital. Now, nearly three years after her last appearance, Jackie Zeman (Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer) is returning to General Hospital.

"Bobbie Spencer is coming back to GH," Zeman beamed on Twitter. "Am so happy to be invited. TY for all your positive thoughts + support."

"[Thank you] for inviting me back. I'm looking forward to working with you," Zeman said in a subsequent message to the show's executive producer, Frank Valentini.

Zeman also noted that she is "very excited and looking forward to being included" in head writer Ron Carlivati's story.

In a March 2012 appearance on Soap Central Live, Zeman hinted that she and Valentini had been in touch about a possible return, with Zeman indicating that it was just a matter of finding the right story to warrant her alter ego's return.

"It makes me feel really happy that people still think of Bobbie as such a part of General Hospital. I just... because I love the show, I was on the show my whole adult life, and I miss it," Zeman said in a March 2012 appearance on Soap Central Live. "I'm excited that they're going where they're going and they're doing what they're doing. So I don't know -- it would be fun to come back. They haven't invited me yet. I did talk with Frank Valentini on the phone, and he said, 'Let's see if there's some story. Let me talk to Ron, and if Bobbie were to come back, it would be because there's some story.' So, you know, hopefully, if they put their heads together, they could come up with something that would be fitting, appropriate, and would be out there. And if that happens, I'll be absolutely thrilled, because I can think of nothing better than to get in the car and drive over and be on GH! It would be fabulous!"
