The Young and the Restless' Mamie is returning for more than just a guest stint

Mamie Johnson, the former Abbott family housekeeper and great aunt to Lily, Devon, and Nate, is set to return later this month.

Veronica Redd will reprise her role as Mamie Johnson on The Young and the Restless later this month.

Redd played the role of Mamie from 1990 to 1995 and again from 1999 to 2004. She also appeared briefly in March as part of Genoa City's big bicentennial celebration.

In her first Hollywood acting role and TV series appearance, Redd appeared on the CBS sitcom The Jeffersons, playing the groundbreaking role of Edith "Edie" Stokes, George Jefferson's old Navy buddy and former best friend who had transitioned.

According to Y&R, Redd will appear in "multiple shows" this time around, with the first happening on September 26.

Redd won't be the only Y&R fave returning this month. The show previously announced that Michael Damian (Danny Romalotti) will also be back for an extended stay. Learn more about his return here.
