A February Sweeps storyline rocketed Y&R's Hunter King to front and center in Genoa City, but she'll soon be front and center in theaters nationwide.
The Young and the Restless' Hunter King (Summer Newman) has had a whirlwind year. Following the win of her very first Daytime Emmy Award last June, the actress welcomed a new on-screen mom as well as a new on-screen husband. And somehow, she also managed to find the time to take on her very first feature film, which hits theaters later this month.
Titled A Girl Like Her, the emotional film follows 16-year-old Jessica (Lexi Ainsworth [ex-Kristina Corinthos-Davis, General Hospital]), who for years has been victimized by her former friend, Avery (King). With the help of her best friend, Brian (Jimmy Bennett), and a spy camera, Jessica tries to take down the cliquey Avery and expose her as the bully she truly is.
As part of the promotion for the film, King visited Hallmark's Home and Family to talk about her experience filming the movie. Her appearance airs today (check local listings), and a special clip below shows the actress discussing how tough it was for her to take on such a difficult character.

"It was really hard; I pulled from a lot of personal experiences that I went through in high school and also go through now, like on Twitter," the actress says. "It was really hard to play the bully and be so, for lack of a better word, evil."
As Y&R fans know, this isn't the first time King has taken on the subject of bullying. Just two short years ago, her soap opera character, Summer, was involved in the bullying of a juvenile delinquent named Jamie.
Watch King and Ainsworth in the trailer for A Girl Like Her below, and be sure to check out the film, which hits theaters on Friday, March 27.
