Marcy Rylan is Y&R's latest cast cut

In its latest casting move, The Young and the Restless has fired Marcy Rylan. Rylan joined Y&R as Abby in 2010, after a three-year run on CBS's Guiding Light.

There has been another casting cut at The Young and the Restless. Marcy Rylan (Abigail Newman) has been cut from the show.

"I had a blast at Y&R and I'm taking all those awesome memories with me," Rylan told followers on Twitter. "I am so excited to see what will come next! Love you all!"

According to sources, Rylan's ouster, which became public on the same day as Genie Francis' (Genevieve Atkinson) dismissal from the show, has caught nearly everyone by surprise.

"No one ever imagined that [Marcy's] job would be in danger," a show source told Soap Opera Digest, adding that Rylan's character is part of Y&R's two core families.

Rylan's on-screen mom, Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott), was let go from Y&R earlier this year to make way for the actress to return to Days of our Lives.

Rylan joined The Young and the Restless in March 2010 as an "aged" recast of Abby. Prior to joining Y&R, the actress appeared for three years on Guiding Light as Lizzie Spaulding. In each of her three years of eligibility, Rylan was pre-nominated by her peers in Guiding Light's in-house Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy vote.

The Young and the Restless does not comment on contracts.
