Oscar was introduced in the 1st episode of the show as an accountant in Dunder Mifflin. He works in the accounting department with Angela and Kevin. He is the more responsible employee in his department. He often explains financial matters to his coworkers and corrects their mistakes. He is one of the first openly gay characters in the show, and Michael unintentionally reveals his sexuality to the office. Michael often misunderstands him and makes inappropriate comments about him.


He gets along with most of his coworkers but often gets frustrated by their lack of common sense. He had a complicated relationship with Kevin and Angela. He was friends with Kevin but often criticized him for laziness. His relationship with Angela was tense because they had different opinions on many things and she was very conservative. In Season 9, he started having a secret affair with Senator Robert Lipton.


The Senator was already married to Angela and she was not aware of the affair. When the truth comes out, it creates a lot of tension between Angela and Oscar. However, they make up later and become friends over time after she leaves the Senator, with her even asking for his help during tough times. He let her and her baby stay in his apartment and helped take care of the baby.

Oscar Nuñez plays the role of Oscar in the show. He is a Cuban-American actor and comedian, born on November 18, 1958, in Colón, Matanzas, Cuba. In the 1990s, he started his career in comedy. He joined The Groundlings, a well-known improv and sketch comedy troupe in Los Angeles. He started his acting career with a minor appearance in the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2000. He made his film debut with the film The Italian Job in 2003.


He got his breakthrough as Oscar Martinez on the hit show The Office (2005-2013). He gained international popularity and won 2 Daytime Emmy Awards and 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards with The Office cast. Apart from The Office, he worked in many shows like Halfway Home (2007), Benched (2014), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2016), Shameless (2016), People of Earth (2016-2017), Mr. Iglesias (2019-2020), Firebuds (2022-Present), etc.


He has also worked in many films like The Proposal (2009), The 33 (2015), Baywatch (2017), The Lost City (2022), Disenchanted (2022), The Long Game (2023), etc. He will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez in the upcoming follow-up show to The Office, rumored to be called The Paper.
