Who is Bob in Stranger Things?

Bob Newby or Bob is one of the supporting characters in Stranger Things and was introduced as Joyce’s new boyfriend in Season 2 of the show. Working as the manager of RadioShack, Bob became one of the key roles in the second season where he used his knowledge of technology and problem-solving skills to decode a mysterious map drawn by Will Byers, which leads to the discovery of the tunnels created by the Mind Flayer beneath Hawkins.

Bob was shown to be in a romantic relationship with Joyce in Season 2 and was highly unaware of the events that had taken place with Will in Season 1. Even upon learning the reality of it all, Bob was a strong wall, ever ready to protect his love and her children. He had a friendly relationship with Will Byers, easily bonding with the character. Even though Bob lacked physical strength, he was smart and would easily manage any difficult task at hand.

Does Bob die in Stranger Things?

Yes, though Bob was one of the important characters in season 2, the character was killed by the demodog beasts during the season finale. After discovering the danger of the Mind Flayer on Will, the entire group of Will, Mike, Joyce, Bob, Jim, Nancy, and Jonathan took refuge in the Hawkins National Laboratory. After the power went out in the facility, it was Bob who volunteered to go out to the power facility, with the entire building filled by the growing threat of Demodogs. While being extremely stealthy, he fixed the control panel to restore the electricity, but his way back was a dangerous task.

While initially, the character evades several Demodogs, carefully making his way back toward Joyce and the others, there is an unfateful event of a mop in the corridor dropping down which causes a lot of noise to attract the beasts. Bob runs out through the corridor and manages to find Joyce. Just as the two locked eyes, the creature pounced on him, digging his nails on his abdomen. While Jim Hopper shoots at the creature, they notice a couple more coming in which gives them no choice but to leave Bob and escape. Bob’s sacrifice is one of the heartfelt moments in the series.
