Finola Hughes will return to General Hospital in early 2012. While the actress will be part of a storyline that involves the exit of her on-screen daughter, a show spokesperson also states that Anna Devane will have additional story.
Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) will return to General Hospital this winter in a story that will, at least in part, help to usher out her on-screen daughter, Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio).
A General Hospital spokesperson confirms that Hughes is returning to the show. However, the rep notes that Hughes' stay will be "long-term," and asserts that Hughes will remain on the canvas after McCullough exits.
Hughes originated the role of Anna Devane in 1985. She exited the show in 1992, but has made occasional returns ever since. In March 2001, Hughes took her GH role to All My Children, where, in addition to playing Anna, Hughes also created the role of Anna's twin, Alexandra, in 1999.
Hughes last appeared on-screen in 2008.
As previously reported, McCullough will exit General Hospital in early 2012 in a story-dictated exit. McCullough has expressed a desire to focus on her newfound passion: directing.
Hughes will first air the week of February 13.
