The Conjuring 2 is a 2016 supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. It is known as The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case in the UK.


The story portrays the Warrens as they reach England in 1977 to help the Hodgson family, who experience poltergeist disturbances at their Enfield council house. The incident was eventually known as the Enfield poltergeist. Ed and Lorraine Warren, the paranormal investigators and writers from the previous movie, are played once more by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.


It is the second addition in the Conjuring series, the third in the Conjuring Universe, and a follow-up to the 2013 movie The Conjuring. On June 10, 2016, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema released The Conjuring 2 in theatres across the United States, following its June 7, 2016 world premiere at TCL Chinese Theatre.

The American actress Vera Farmiga portrays Lorraine Warren, a real-life paranormal investigator in the movie. Lorraine, who worked closely with her husband, claimed to be a light trance medium and clairvoyant.


American paranormal investigators and writers Lorraine Rita Warren (née Moran; January 31, 1927 – April 18, 2019) and Edward Warren Miney (September 7, 1926 – August 23, 2006) have been associated with renowned cases of reported hauntings.

The American actor Patrick Wilson portrays Ed Warren, a real-life paranormal investigator in the movie. Edward was a self-taught author, lecturer, and self-described demonologist.
