DAYS co-head writer Christopher Whitesell exits

Christopher Whitesell will no longer be co-head writing episodes of Days of our Lives. The Emmy-winning scribe is no longer with NBC, though it remains unclear if Whitesell opted out or was let go.

Days of our Lives has lost a member of its writing staff. Co-head writer Christopher Whitesell is out, but that doesn't necessarily mean that daytime viewers have seen or heard the last of him.

A Days of our Lives spokesperson confirms that Whitesell, who was named co-head writer in 2008, is no longer with the show. The NBC soap has reportedly not yet decided if a new co-head writer will be named to work alongside Dena Higley.

Whitesell worked previously on DAYS as associate head writer from 2000 to 2001. In addition to helping craft story in Salem, Whitesell earned Emmys for his work on One Life to Live and Guiding Light.

Meanwhile, Soap Opera Weekly hints that fans should not be "surprised if he pops up somewhere else." Recent speculation about possible writing changes at All My Children has AMC fans wondering if Whitesell might be headed to Pine Valley.
