Brief Character History

Nicole Dupree is the daughter of retired senator and civil rights activist Vernon Dupree and one-time successful recording artist Anita Dupree. Along with her sister, Dani Dupree, Nicole was raised in Fairmont Crest, an affluent gated community in Maryland. More of a sensible type than her volatile sister Dani, Nicole became a psychiatrist and met her husband, Ted Richardson, at a National Medical Association conference in Maui. Nicole and Ted had two children, son Martin Richardson and daughter Katherine “Kat” Richardson; they also gave a home to Andre Richardson, the son of Ted's brother, Stan Richardson, when Stan and his wife died in a plane crash.

Nicole and Dani crossed swords when Nicole advised her sister to let go of her ex-husband, Bill Hamilton, who had left Dani for Hayley Lawson, the best friend of Nicole's niece Naomi Hamilton. But when Hayley, who was going to live in Fairmont Crest with Bill, approached Nicole to make peace, Nicole turned Hayley down flat. Nicole worked from home and found herself without help when her assistant, Laura, was hospitalized in a car accident; on a recommendation, Nicole hired computer whiz hairstylist Eva Thomas to fill in while Laura recovered.
