Mac tried to make Kevin see a psychiatrist. Kevin refused to go in. He thought the psychiatrist would tell him he was crazy, and then he would never have the hope to change. Mac said it was something he had to do. If he didn't go in, he would never see her again.

Michael was amazed that Mac had convinced Kevin to go to the psychiatrist. They talked about Kevin's life growing up. Michael felt guilty for leaving him alone in that situation. Mac said that he should forgive himself.

Nikki begged Victor to leave Jabot. She pleaded for him to do it for her, so they could finally spend time together. Victor said leaving was something he couldn't do. Sharon interrupted them and told Victor that she had decided to resign. Victor said if she stayed, they would pay her salary. Sharon and Nikki wondered who had been paying her salary previously. Victor admitted that it was Nick. Sharon left angrily.

Nick was happy to see Sharon when she arrived home early. He thought she had decided to resign from Jabot and wanted to throw her a party. Sharon said there was nothing to celebrate. When she admitted to him that she'd found out Nick had been paying her salary, Nick apologized. He said that he'd wanted her to have the job so badly, he'd made a temporary deal with Brad.

Sharon said she was embarrassed that everyone knew. She felt betrayed. Sharon felt that it was something Victor would have done. She told Nick she didn't want to work for any Newman anymore, including her own husband.

Colleen went to see J.T. and told him about her parents taking a trip to Europe. She wanted to know if J.T. wanted her to stay. J.T. said he couldn't tell her what to do with her life. As they talked, they both realized that they had moved on with their lives. Even though they still loved each other and always would, their relationship had changed. Colleen wondered if they were saying goodbye. J.T. said this time it would be different. He would always want to know about her life -- except, however, new boyfriends and dates she might have. Colleen agreed. As she left, she clutched her necklace in her hands.

At the coffeehouse, Dru thanked Neil for calling to see about Devon. Malcolm overheard and asked if they had found him yet. Dru was worried sick; she had no idea where he could be. When Lily showed up, Dru told her about Devon. They talked to Sierra and went through his paperwork for school. Dru realized that it was Devon's birthday. Sierra admitted that Devon might have gone to the zoo because Devon's grandmother had taken him there every year for his birthday.

At the zoo, Devon thought about his grandmother. It was getting cold and dark, but he enjoyed watching the animals. Suddenly, a security guard appeared, and Devon started running. Devon started jumping fences to get away and hid in the snow. When the coast was clear, he got up and almost fell. He heard a noise and found himself face to face with a lion.

Bobby and Brittany returned to the ranch after attending Joshua's burial service in Cleveland. Bobby was concerned that Brittany was still not feeling well. He thanked her for accompanying him to Cleveland, for supporting him, and for making the burial arrangements. Brittany told Bobby she needed to get some air and wanted to go visit a friend. She left, causing Bobby more concern because she was still not feeling well. He picked up the phone, ready to make a call, when he noticed a sheet of paper next to the phone. He began reading it; its contents definitely piqued his interest.

Brad stopped by the Abbott house to discuss Jabot business with Ashley. To her surprise, he admitted that Victor had indeed found some unnecessary expenses that could have added to Jabot's downfall. Ashley asked him if it was actually a compliment to Victor. Ashley noted that Brad seemed to be relenting about Victor being at Jabot, but she added that she didn't buy it.

Brad proceeded to try to convince Ashley that he was willing to work with Victor and realized he couldn't continue fighting him. Ashley was still suspicious about the sudden change in Brad. She observed that he was acting strange and questioned what had really caused the change. Brad told her that Jack had been instrumental in bringing about the decision, making him realize that he was outnumbered.

Jack was in the CEO office at Jabot, talking to Traci by phone about her signing a proxy. As he hung up the phone, a workman told him that the window was repaired. Jack quietly muttered to himself, "Next time, it will be Newman instead of a chair." His muttering was loud enough for Nikki to hear as she entered the office at just that moment. They then began discussing Victor. Nikki accused Jack of being there at Jabot only to bait Victor. Jack said he knew she wanted Victor out of Jabot, too.

Jack stressed to Nikki that he needed to know he could count on her support to help oust Victor from Jabot. Jack further told her that he had the money and the power to get Victor out and admitted he had a plan to oust Victor. Nikki said she was worried about being pitted against her husband; she needed Victor home, "especially now." Jack sensed something might be up, but Nikki told him she just wanted out of the corporate rat race, as there was no fulfillment in the boardroom. They concluded that they both wanted Victor out of Jabot, although for different reasons.

Michael and Mac were in the reception area of the doctor's office, waiting for Kevin to complete his first session with the psychiatrist. Michael was explaining to Mac why Kevin hadn't told her about his past sooner, including the legal ramifications that might have ensued for her if she'd actually had knowledge of it. She inquired about the fire at Gina's and the fact that Kevin had never been convicted. The reason for that, he explained, was that they had found no evidence.

Michael then mentioned the time Kevin had spent in jail when he'd been suspected of electrocuting Brittany until the real culprit had been found. He had then been released, Michael told her, but not before he'd been brutally beaten there by a gang of prison thugs. Michael shared that he wanted to believe there was hope for Kevin. Kevin emerged from the doctor's office and was rather surprised to find his brother there with Mac, waiting for him. Michael assured Kevin he would always be there for him. Kevin was also pleasantly surprised that Mac was still waiting for him. Michael said he was ready to take Kevin home, and all three left together.

Mac, Kevin, and Michael arrived at Mac's loft. Kevin was quiet and seemed very pensive and reflective about his session. Mac left the room for a while so the two brothers could talk. Michael told Kevin how proud he was about Kevin taking the step and asked him how the session had gone. Kevin replied that it had been "amazing." Kevin told Michael that he was grateful to him for showing up, and Michael again assured Kevin he would always be there. Kevin told Michael he had been very nervous about seeing the doctor but was glad he had gone and thought Dr. Woods was really nice.

Michael again let Kevin know he was proud of Kevin for taking that step for himself, but Kevin stated he had also done it for Mac. Michael playfully teased Kevin about liking Mac. He encouraged Kevin to continue with his therapy, and Kevin replied that he had another session booked. Mac then returned to the room. Kevin wanted to stay awhile and talk to Mac. She assured Michael that she would drive Kevin home, so Michael left.

Kevin thanked Mac for making him see the doctor. He said that he'd been doing a lot of thinking and felt they shouldn't see so much of each other for a while. That surprised Mac. Kevin explained that he would need to concentrate on his therapy, but Mac felt he would need someone to count on during that time. Kevin again expressed surprise that Mac would still want to be there for him. She gave her word she would continue to be there; Kevin was touched to finally have someone he could count on. He then, rather awkwardly, gave Mac a kiss. He said he should go. Mac took him home.

The entire Winters family -- Neil, Dru, Lily, and Malcolm -- arrived at the zoo in their car to look for Devon. The guard told them he was sure no one was still left at the zoo, but they begged him to look for their son. They discussed amongst themselves about it being Devon's birthday. Just a short distance away, Devon was trapped in the lions' den, with a lion moving dangerously close to him. Two of the guards were talking to each other when one mentioned to the other about just seeing a kid on the zoo grounds. The other one said he thought the kid's family was looking for him. The guard then found the Winters family and told them he thought their son might be somewhere in the park, after all. Meanwhile, the lion moved closer, and Devon was trapped.

At Crimson Lights, J.T. joined Brittany. Brittany told J.T. about Joshua's burial. J.T. suggested that it might be a new beginning for the two of them. He then went on to tell Brittany that he and Colleen had broken up again, and Colleen was going to accompany her mother on a book tour in Europe. Brittany was surprised; she thought he loved Colleen. He assured her that he still did but said things had changed, and that time, they were over for real. J.T. mentioned Colleen's friend Zack from New York and how he and Colleen had both once thought that there could never be anyone else for either of them.

J.T. then changed the subject back to Cleveland, but Brittany wasn't really listening. She was replaying in her mind about when the doctor in Cleveland had informed her she was pregnant. J.T. knew there was something wrong with Brittany and inquired about what was bothering her. At first, she said she was fine but then caved in and confided to J.T. that she'd learned from the emergency room doctor in Cleveland, after collapsing at the burial site, that she was pregnant. J.T. was obviously shocked but told her he thought it was great, although with some hesitation. He guessed that Bobby had to be happy about it. Brittany informed him that Bobby didn't know about it yet.

Nikki arrived home and hung her coat in the closet. She noticed that Bobby had returned home. She inquired how the funeral and burial had gone, and Bobby replied that he was sure it had been everything that his parents would have wanted. Nikki assured Bobby that she, too, would visit Joshua's grave at some time in the future. She said she wanted to start a scholarship in Joshua's name. Bobby then handed Nikki a little black box. Upon opening it, she found the ruby earrings given to her on her fifth birthday. Bobby felt it was right that she should have them. Nikki was extremely touched at receiving them.

Bobby told Nikki it was all about forgiveness: "Josh forgives you. You need to forgive yourself. Put this behind you." Nikki began crying and tenderly embraced Bobby. Bobby could see that Nikki was also upset about something else, so she finally confided that she was sad about Victor and how they never seemed to be on the same wavelength. Bobby wanted to help, but Nikki said she just wanted to change the subject; she then inquired about how Brittany was feeling. He told her that Brittany had gone out to see a friend. Bobby then informed her of the paper he'd found next to the phone earlier, a list of funeral arrangements -- and he knew she'd made them.

Back at the zoo, everyone was frantically calling to Devon. Devon then called out to them. They heard him and ran in his direction. The lion moved closer, his growl increasing. Devon was utterly terrified.

At Crimson Lights, Brittany tearfully confessed to J.T. that she was pregnant. J.T. said he thought she'd been on the pill. Brittany explained that she'd been under a lot of stress and had forgotten to take a few pills. She told J.T. that she was scared and believed she wasn't ready to have a baby. She said she knew nothing about being a mother, especially since she hadn't had a great role model. J.T. assured her that Bobby would support her. Brittany bitterly stated that Bobby would be with her if he could stay away from Nikki. She told J.T. that Nikki and Bobby had a connection.

J.T. listened as Brittany told him that she and Bobby had no money, the cabaret wasn't making it, and the star of the cabaret was pregnant. She claimed that she and Bobby couldn't live at the ranch forever and that everything was a mess. She expressed her fears about how Bobby might react to the pregnancy. J.T. reassured Brittany that everything would be fine. She needed to trust her husband and tell him everything. J.T. hugged her. Feeling comforted, Brittany promised J.T. that she would tell Bobby.

At the ranch, Bobby confronted Nikki with the paper that had some of Joshua's burial arrangements written down. He asked why they were in her handwriting. Nikki explained that she'd known he'd been in no shape to handle things, so she'd done it for him. Bobby understood that she'd felt the need to do that for Joshua and for him, but what he couldn't understand was why she'd asked Brittany to lie to him about it or why Brittany had agreed to go along with Nikki to lie to him.

Nikki told Bobby that Brittany was too young to know the right thing to do. Even though Brittany appeared confident and mature on the outside, she was still very young and a little intimidated by Nikki. Nikki told Bobby that he needed to let things be and not tell Brittany that he knew Brittany had lied to him. Bobby reluctantly agreed not to say anything to Brittany. As he hugged Nikki and thanked her for all that she'd done for him and Brittany, Brittany walked in the door and caught them embracing.

Michael was home alone when Kevin arrived. Kevin assured a worried Michael that Mac had driven him home. When Michael tried to get details about Kevin's therapy session, Kevin was evasive. He told Michael that it had been a very positive experience, and he was looking forward to seeing the therapist again. He said it had been great to have someone to unburden himself to.

Changing the subject, Kevin told Michael that he was looking forward to Valentine's Day and that he wanted to do something special for Mac, since she was the reason he was in therapy. Michael reminded Kevin that he needed to be in therapy for himself, not for anyone else. Kevin agreed, but he claimed that Mac was really special because she'd stood by him. Kevin reminded Michael that on Valentine's Day a year before, he'd still been with Lauren. Michael was a little alarmed by Kevin's choice of words, and he appeared skeptical about Kevin's attitude.

Kevin told Michael that when he'd walked out of Dr. Wood's office and seen Michael waiting for him, he'd known he had people who cared for him. He said he was going to change. Kevin gave Michael a lottery ticket as a gift to show his gratitude. Michael wanted Kevin to tell him where things stood between him and Mac. Kevin said it was almost Valentine's Day, and he wanted to show Mac how much she meant to him. He decided that he wanted to go for a walk to clear his head and figure out what else he could do for Mac.

A short time later, Lauren arrived at Michael's. She was surprised to find that Michael had arranged a little celebratory moment with Champagne and canapés. Michael said it was in honor of Kevin's decision to go into therapy. Michael was concerned about Kevin's feelings for Mac. He reminded Lauren of Kevin's former infatuation with Lauren and wondered if Kevin's feelings for Mac were just as unhealthy. Lauren pointed out that at least Mac was Kevin's age and that Mac seemed to really care about Kevin. Lauren suggested that Michael needed to relax and stop worrying so much about Kevin.

Lauren thought Kevin's gift of a lottery ticket to Michael, to show his gratitude, was wonderful. Michael agreed that deep down, Kevin had a good heart, but he'd expected Kevin to be a little less upbeat after talking about his horrible childhood abuse and all the problems he'd brought on himself the past couple of years. He said that Kevin didn't usually like to speak about his past, especially to strangers. Lovingly, Lauren told Michael to stop talking about Kevin, and she kissed him.

Mac arrived home and found a pensive J.T. She skirted around having an argument between them about Kevin. She said that they would never agree, and it was better if they didn't talk about it. Mac asked J.T. what kind of day he'd had. He told her about his and Colleen's decision to break up and Colleen's intention to travel to Europe with her mother and stepfather. Mac could tell something else was bothering him, but J.T. refrained from telling Mac about Brittany's news. Mac suggested that since J.T. was at loose ends, maybe they could spend Valentine's Day together. J.T. smiled and admitted that he didn't have any plans for Valentine's Day.

At the Abbotts' home, Ashley had a lot of questions for Jack about Brad's change in attitude, which Brad had attributed to Jack's calming advice. Jack said that it was in the best interest of the company for Brad to try to work with Victor in those areas where they could find agreement. Ashley agreed, but she wasn't buying Jack's sudden role as a peacemaker, especially since she'd also heard that Jack had irresponsibly flung a chair through the CEO's office window. Jack said one thing had nothing to do with the other. Jack claimed he could see the need to help Jabot by everyone working together, but Victor had taken over the CEO's office. That was unacceptable.

Ashley asked why Jack cared because he no longer worked at Jabot, but Jack countered that Victor had gone too far by trying to have Jack banned from the building. Jack stated that he'd reacted in anger. Ashley didn't buy it because she knew Jack was up to something. Jack assured her that no one cared about Jabot more than he did, and one day, she would believe that. Jack walked out and left Ashley unsettled.

Nick arrived in Victor's office at Jabot. Nick wanted to know why Victor had told Sharon that Nick had been paying her salary under the table while she worked at Jabot. Victor said he hadn't been aware that Sharon hadn't known. He claimed that Sharon should have signed a contract, since she was the face of Jabot, and he was outraged that Nick would question his motives in telling Sharon the truth. Victor was offended at Nick's implication that he would cause trouble in Nick and Sharon's marriage.

Nick told Victor that he wasn't buying it and that he wasn't the only one who knew how ruthless Victor was. Victor argued that the Abbotts had done Nick a favor by hiring Sharon, and Nick was stabbing them in the back by trying to steal Sharon away. He ordered Nick to tell Sharon that she would be staying at Jabot until Victor had finished restructuring the company, which could take six months to a year. Nick smirked and stared at Victor in disbelief.

At the zoo, Neil, Dru, Malcolm, Lily, and the zoo guard finally found Devon frozen in fear in the lion's den. Devon had been at the zoo when he'd heard the security guard approaching, and he'd jumped several fences to stay ahead of the guard. When Devon had thought he'd been safe, he'd stood up and discovered he was in the lion's den, and he'd frozen when he'd found himself face to face with a lion. Malcolm saw that Devon wasn't able to move, and he climbed into the lion's den slowly and stood between Devon and the lion. He ordered Devon to back up slowly and climb out, but Devon remained frozen in fear.

Neil realized what had happened, and he climbed into the den with Devon and Malcolm. Neil gently nudged Devon toward the wall and ordered him to climb out. Once Devon was out, Neil followed. When everyone else was safe, Malcolm kept his eyes fixed on the lion and slowly backed away. He was able to make it to safety before the lion became aggressive.

Outside the zoo, Devon thanked Malcolm and Neil for saving him, and he apologized for the jeopardy he'd placed them in. Malcolm said the only thing that mattered was that they were all safe. Dru said they could talk about that later. The family hugged because they were so grateful that everyone was safe.

While Lily and Devon went to get the car, Malcolm thanked Neil for helping him extricate Devon from the lion's den. Neil said that he wanted to thank Malcolm for his bravery and for saving Devon. Dru told Malcolm that she and Neil would always be grateful to him for saving Devon.

Giddy with relief, Neil and Malcolm began to play fight on the road. In the meantime, Lily drove the car from the parking lot to her family's location just outside the zoo. Lily saw Neil and Malcolm fooling around on the road. She hit the brakes and yelled to Devon that she couldn't stop the car. Lily lost control of the car on the ice. The car slid and hit Neil, knocking him onto the snow-covered pavement.

Brittany sarcastically apologized to Nikki and Bobby for interrupting them as they were hugging. Bobby said they had nothing to be sorry for; they had been doing nothing wrong. Bobby admitted that he'd found out that Nikki was the person who had handled the arrangements for Joshua. Brittany thought Nikki had tricked her to make her look bad in front of her husband. Brittany shouted out that she was pregnant and ran upstairs. Nikki told Bobby it would be okay; Brittany wasn't thinking clearly.

Later on, Brittany went downstairs and said that Nikki had been right. She was confused and wondered how Bobby felt knowing she was pregnant. Bobby said he was scared to death. It had thrown him a curve ball, but through better or for worse, he would roll with the punches.

Dru, Malcolm, Lily, and Devon waited at the hospital for Olivia to tell them how Neil was doing. Olivia said that Neil was too unstable for them to perform surgery, but they could see him. Neil told Dru how much he loved her and asked Devon to take care of Dru and Lily while he was in the hospital. He told Devon that he was a great addition to their family, and he was their son.

J.T. couldn't believe after everything he'd told Mac that she still wanted to be friends with Kevin. Mac told him that she'd convinced Kevin to see a psychiatrist, but J.T. still thought Kevin should be in jail. Mac asked that they talk about what they would do on Valentine's Day. She said it had been a special day for J.T. and Colleen, and she wanted to make sure he didn't dwell on the past.

Michael and Lauren worried that Kevin might be taking his infatuation of Mac too far. When Kevin appeared, he confirmed it. He was planning a Valentine's Day surprise for Mac. They warned him that girls might not appreciate such spontaneity, but Kevin wasn't listening.

Nick and Sharon talked to Victor about her position at Jabot. She told Victor her decision was certain; she would work for Newman Enterprises if they would still have her. Victor was disappointed, but Nick was thrilled. He told Sharon how proud he was that she would stand up to Victor that way. Sharon said Nick was still on thin ice with her. She made him promise that he wouldn't turn out to be a controlling and manipulative person like Victor.

At a signal from Olivia, Malcolm awoke Dru in the waiting room. Olivia told them that even though Neil wasn't really stable yet, they needed to go ahead and do surgery. She thought it would be a good idea for his family to see him first, and Dru understood that Olivia was saying Neil might not make it. Dru saw Neil alone. When Neil asked her to promise to make the children her top priority, Dru begged him not to talk like that -- they were going to grow old together, and he'd always be there for their children.

Later, Lily and Devon woke up, and Lily visited her father. He told her that the accident hadn't been her fault. All the best and worst things in life could never be expected, but the journey made it all worthwhile. Lily was afraid her father was telling her goodbye, but he said he'd never say goodbye to her. Neil then talked to Malcolm alone, and the two brothers vowed that all the bad feelings were behind them. Malcolm promised to take care of Neil's family if it came to that, but he assured Neil that it would not. After Neil talked to them all and to Devon one last time, he was taken to surgery.

J.T. went to the boutique and asked Lauren to help him pick out a Valentine's Day present for someone. When she thought it was for Colleen, he told her that he and Colleen had broken up again, and she'd left town. The gift was for a special friend who was going to keep him from moping over the holiday. Without knowing that J.T.'s date was with Mac, Lauren helped him pick out a gift.

Gloria stopped by Michael's, but Michael had already left for work, so she visited with Kevin. When Kevin told her that he was in therapy, she apologized for the part she'd played in his bad childhood. Kevin insisted that she was a victim, too, and he didn't blame her. When he told her that he was going to surprise Mac for Valentine's Day, Gloria said that she'd help him put something together. Her approval of Mac, however, seemed to come mostly from the fact that Mac was a Chancellor.

After confirming by phone with J.T. that their date would be at the Athletic Club, Mac received another call. She thought it was J.T. calling her back, but it was Kevin, who wanted to know what she was doing. Mac told him that she had a lot of homework that she'd be spending time on. She offered to go with Kevin the next time he went to therapy, and he told her to get her studying done then clear her decks. Mac didn't realize that he was asking her to keep herself free that night.

Later, Mac received a package. Mystified, she opened it and found a red dress. First, she thought it was from her grandmother, but as she read the note, it seemed to be from J.T., since she had been asked to wear the dress on her date that night. It wasn't until she saw Kevin's signature that Mac realized he might be expecting her to go out with him.

Brad, Ashley, John, and Victor were in a meeting to talk business. Keeping his promise to Jack, Brad seemed to approve of Victor's suggestions. John wasn't so sure that all of Victor's decisions were good ones. Ashley kept reminding them that it was Victor who was keeping Jabot from certain failure. Gloria walked in on their meeting, and against Ashley's wishes, John let his wife stay in the room.

Gloria interrupted several times, getting on Ashley's nerves, especially when Gloria disapproved of Ashley's decision to go to France. She accused Ashley of taking a vacation just when the company needed her most. Ashley defended herself, saying that she was going to research a possible new product that could help rebuild enthusiasm and confidence among Jabot's customers. John and Brad agreed that it was a good plan.

While Sharon and Nick were getting ready for work, Nikki showed up. Left alone with Sharon, Nikki said it was too bad Nick had felt that he'd had to buy Sharon's way into a job. Sharon accused Nikki of trying to start trouble and disagreed with Nikki's belief that Sharon was neglecting her family by working. Nikki was surprised to hear that Sharon was holding firm about taking the position at Newman. When Nick returned downstairs, Sharon left for work.

Nick asked his mother to be supportive of Sharon and him, and Nikki said in some ways, she envied them the opportunity to work together. She'd hoped that once Victor had made Nick CEO, it would mean she could spend more time with her husband. Instead, Victor was immersed in the business of Jabot.

After Nikki left, Nick went to Jabot and confronted Ashley, telling her that if Jabot was on the right course, it was time for Victor to leave. Ashley told Nick that Victor wasn't a doddering old fool. No matter what Nikki might want, Victor wasn't the kind of man who'd be happy if he was idle. She had no intention of discussing it further with him, and Nick warned her that if she didn't take action, he might have to do something. Ashley told Nick that the harder he tried to push his father, the more determined Victor would be to stay at Jabot.
