The nominations have been cast. Thousands of Soap Opera Central users visited the soap
web site over the past month to nominate their choices in a variety of categories, such as Outstanding Lead Actor, Favorite Character and Favorite Storyline. We've tabulated all of the nominations and placed the top four vote-getters in each category on a final ballot. Each of the ten soaps has its own final ballot -- and you can vote in as many or as few of those ballotings as you wish.
The Soap Opera Central Awards, affectionately known as the Dankies after Soap Opera Central founder Dan Kroll, are the only soap awards where the nominees and the winners are determined by you, the soap opera fan. This year's awards are being sponsored by Flirting.biz, an online dating service for women who know what they want.
If you are unfamiliar with the Dankies process, please take a few minutes to read over the information below. It will help you understand a little bit about how the awards are conducted and how the winners are determined.
Please remember that before you can cast your nominations or votes you will need to sign up for a FREE Soap Opera Central username and password. It will take just a few moments to do so and it's totally free. If you have already signed up for your account, you're ready to start the voting.
COMPLETED: PHASE ONE (December 15, 2002 through January 19, 2003)
In the first phase of the balloting, all Soap Opera Central users are able to nominate their choices in a variety of categories, including Outstanding Lead Actor, Favorite Character and Most Missed Performer.
Visitors can make nominations for any and all soaps that they watch.
This means that you can cast nominations in more than one soap's Dankies ballot.
UNDERWAY: PHASE TWO (February 3rd through March 10, 2003)
In the second phase of voting, the top vote-getters in each category from the nominations phase are placed on a final ballot. Soap Opera Central visitors are then able to cast their votes on the final ballot - anyone can vote... whether or not you voted in Phase One.
Visitors can vote for any and all soaps that they watch.
In addition to the opening of the final ballot, special news coverage will be provided to cover the results of the nominations.
PHASE THREE (March 10th through April 6, 2003)
In this phase, the winners of each category from each soap will be entered into a final all-soaps ballot. So, for example, the winners of the Outstanding Lead Actress categories from All My Children through The Young and the Restless will battle it out for the top spot.
In addition to the opening of the all-soaps ballot, each soap will offer comprehensive coverage of Dankies voting and results.
