Stephen Martines (Tony Santos) has confirmed that he will be exiting Guiding Light later this spring. The actor asked to be released from his contract with Guiding Light.

Martines joined the cast of Guiding Light in October 2003 following the exit of Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso from the role. Prior to his stint with the CBS soap, Martines enjoyed a four-year run on ABC's General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine.

According to a setside source, Guiding Light will not recast the role of Tony Santos and the character will not be killed off. This will leave the door open for Martines to return at a future date - or for the role to be recast.

Martines has revealed plans to relocate to Los Angeles, where he will pursue furthering his music and acting careers.

Martines will make his last on-screen appearance on April 28, 2005.
