JR Martinez won't be part of AMC relaunch

J.R. Martinez will not be reprising his role of Brot Monroe when All My Children returns online later this year. The actor/author has cited scheduling problems.

J.R. Martinez (Brot Monroe) will not be part of All My Children's relaunch, the actor revealed today on Twitter.

"#AllMyChildren fans: I won't be joining the online version," Martinez wrote on Twitter. "Complicated with my current schedule."

Martinez got his acting start on All My Children in 2008 when the show created a role that blended reality and daytime drama. Martinez proved to be the perfect fit to play Brot Monroe, an Iraq war veteran who returned to Pine Valley with real-life battle wounds and a mission to mend his broken heart. Until AMC's cancellation in 2011, Martinez and AMC used Brot Monroe to tell a poignant and true-to-life story of heroism and survival.

In 2011, Martinez won the Mirror Ball trophy on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Martinez offered his support to the online version, commenting, "Maybe we'll find out who JR shot!"

Prospect Park confirmed earlier this year that it will be relaunching All My Children and One Life to Live online. The shows, expected to begin filming in February with a first airdate in April, will be viewable on Hulu, Hulu Plus, and iTunes.
