ABC's The Rookie has cast Jason Canela (ex-Arturo Rosales, The Young and the Restless) in the recurring role of an entitled, wannabe criminal mastermind named Cesar Madrigal.

The Young and the Restless fans who loved Jason Canela in the role of Arturo Rosales will want to check out the continuation of season three of ABC's The Rookie because the cop drama will be featuring the Latino actor in a recurring role.

According to Deadline, Canela has been cast as Cesar Madrigal, the son of criminal royalty, who is impetuous, entitled, and in line to take over his father's empire. He will make his first appearance in the episode titled Brave Heart, scheduled to air on Sunday, May 2.

"So grateful to do what I love," Canela posted on Instagram. "This journey is filled with so many good and not so good moments but it's these moments that truly makes it all worth it! I will continue to work and hopefully I can nurture my craft along the way so that these unforgettable blessings continue to come my way!"

As soap fans probably already know, The Rookie stars One Life to Live alum Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey Buchanan) as 40-something-year-old John Nolan, the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department.

The series also stars Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O'Neil, Afton Williamson, Mekia Cox, and Eric Winter (ex-Rex Brady, Days of our Lives), as well as Brandon Routh (ex-Seth Anderson, OLTL), who signed on at the end of 2020 as Doug Stanton, an 11-year veteran of the LAPD, "whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station."

Canela took on the role of Y&R's Arturo in 2018, becoming the CBS soap's first Rosales family member. He was written off the series in 2019 but made a brief return appearance in 2020 for the wedding of Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon (Sharon Case).

Prior to joining Y&R, Canela starred alongside All My Children alum Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) in the baseball series Pitch and in the Spanish series Donde Esta Elisa, Cosita Linda, and Ruta 35. Since leaving Y&R, he has been doing voiceover work for video games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Far Cry 6.
