Jack bumps into Michael at the club and mentions how John is now married. This startles Michael as he deduces who the new bride is. He asks about her and Jack admires her honesty.

Dru stops by Olivia's and is startled to see Malcolm. Olivia can't believe Dru knew he was alive. They chat about it and how they both feel about it. Liv won't let him near Nate until school is over.

Lily and Devon chat at the coffee shop about how he doesn't feel fully part of the family. She assures him it will pass. She then points out her uncle Malcolm but Devon already knows him because they met at the Rec Centre.

Drucilla and Olivia argued about the effect of Malcolm's presence in Genoa City. Olivia told Dru that Malcolm had agreed not to see Nate until after his semester was over, but Dru thought Malcolm would move on before then. Olivia was willing to offer Malcolm her friendship and a place to stay. When Dru said that Olivia was trying to rekindle her failed relationship, Olivia suggested that Dru might have her own reasons for wanting Malcolm gone. Dru scoffed, saying her fling with Malcolm was long over, and she was a happily married woman now. Olivia's accusation that Dru was trying to avoid something even farther back in her past caused Drucilla to remember her pregnancy with Lily and her fear that Lily might be Malcolm's child.

At Crimson Lights, Lily and Devon ran into Malcolm. Malcolm was surprised to hear that Neil had decided to foster Devon. Devon said it had surprised all of them. Lily insisted that her father was a good person, even if Malcolm didn't always think so. Neil was giving Devon a chance to finish school and go to college. Malcolm said that an education was good, but there was also a lot to learn by getting experience out in the world. He was telling the two teens about his stay in Africa when Drucilla arrived to take them home. But first she wanted to talk to Malcolm. When they were alone on the patio, Drucilla told Malcolm that Lily had been through a lot in the last couple of years. Her daughter really didn't need anything else confusing or painful to happen to her.

John wasn't happy to arrive home and find Michael in his living room. Michael covered up the true reason for his visit to Gloria by saying that Jack's news about John's wedding was Michael's chance to talk to him about letting Baldwin and Williams revisit his estate planning. It was important that John make sure that his money would be handled according to his wishes in the event of his death. John insisted that his estate was well taken care of, and he had no interest in retaining Michael's services. After he ushered Michael out the door and went to the kitchen, Gloria narrowed her eyes and vowed that Michael would be very sorry for that little visit.

While Katherine went upstairs to prepare a surprise for Arthur, Jill was at the athletic club talking to Harrison about her mother. She said that Katherine had endured a very hard life and deserved some happiness with her first love. If Harrison's story was a vindictive lie, he could be ruining her mother's last chance at happiness. Harrison said that he was telling the truth, but he admitted planting the insurance application to make his story more credible. Jill acknowledged that Harrison really thought Arthur had killed his mother, but she didn't believe it. She rushed home, only to find two envelopes with her name and Katherine's written on them. As she read her letter and seemed on the verge of tears, Katherine walked downstairs ready to elope and asked where Arthur was.

Nikki gave Brad the sealed envelope that had information about his past as a sign of trust. Brad assured her that no matter what problems he had with Victor, the two of them would always be friends. After Nikki left, Ashley arrived to see Abby. Brad invited her to stay for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. When he noticed how troubled she was, Ashley told him that her father had returned from his trip married to Gloria. She wouldn't get the refuge she'd wanted in her family home because of Gloria, who was only pretending that she wanted to get along with Ashley for John's sake. Brad wondered if Ashley was trying to get him to let her come back home, but she denied it. Abby ran downstairs, happy to see her mother. While Brad went to finish dinner, Abby wanted to stay and give her mother big hugs, which left Ashley tearful about the mess she'd made of her life.

Nikki went to Marilyn's, which closed early when the small crowd left. Brittany was out with friends, and Bobby had fallen asleep on the sofa in his office. When Nikki woke him up, he questioned why she'd left the club after Paul came to see her. Nikki said she'd been dealing with something from her past. She told him about accidentally killing her best friend with a loaded gun when she was a little girl. Now that those memories had surfaced, she was hoping to find the boy's family and give them closure. Bobby said that he'd known tragedy in his life, too, but he wasn't sure he ever wanted to know all the details. His brother, who was a couple of years older, had gone missing after a birthday party.
