The Young and the Restless: Two's Company and a Crowd

On The Young and the Restless, Sharon and Phyllis have been abducted and placed together in a locked room in an abandoned psychiatric facility. The situation has some fans rooting for their escape, and some have ideas on how they’ll get there.

The Young and the Restless has a situation not unlike that of the horror movie franchise SAW. Sharon Newman (Sharton Case) and Phyllis Summer (Michelle Stafford) have been kidnapped, and they're being held in a locked room and having to “play a game” to save their lives. Sound familiar? Sounds like the current storyline on The Young and the Restless. If you’re unfamiliar with that particular movie franchise, people are punished for their transgressions by an unseen person who views them through a camera system and talks to them over a speaker in their room using a voice changer. The people captured get the opportunity to make their escape if they “play a game.”

Of course, SAW is a horror flick, so the games are cruel and always leave the victims dead or very much changed. It may be hard to argue that they are changed for the better. While we can count on the version that Sharon and Phyllis are playing being much less horrific, whether or not they change for the better remains to be seen on The Young and the Restless

Fans and viewers have gone to the Soap Central message boards to give their thoughts on Sharon and Phyllis. As they both have been guilty of heinous acts, it may be difficult to root for these “bad girls.”

My 1st time ever rooting for both Sharon and Phyllis...

User bluenanny wrote, “I hope to see those two strong powerful women, save each other....Sharon will have her moments of being the strong one and Phyllis will have hers...Phyllis will solve some clues and so will Sharon...Sharon will have moments of wanting to give up and Phyllis will push her on....Phyllis will have moments of wanting to give up and Sharon will push her on....they both have great strength and also weaknesses...neither is all powerful or all smart but if they lean on each other they will be an amazing combination..SC and MS are great actresses and I feel we as viewers are lucky to be able to watch that talent unfold as they fight their way out of this latest predicament..Go Sharon and Go Phyllis!! I love the fact that I can now root for both of you.”

Cotagesoap25 commented, “FANTASTIC POST, bluenanny! I agree. This is a unique story now, and seeing these two women stuck in the same room together is fascinating, and so intriguing. It feels claustrophobic, but that is proof the story is doing its job! I am thinking just like you do. Both women will have their ups and downs in this story, they will both have strengths, and in the end, they will both save each other's lives. I can't see it turning out any other way. I just want to know WHO is doing this. LOL.

Henyvo02 added, “I do not think they are actually in any danger at all they are just being made to think that so they will learn to work together and finally bury the hatchet their personal issues is the whole point of the escape game they are playing.”
