The Young and the Restless: Slay bells ring

On The Young and the Restless, it's about to get festive for some, but are the holidays going to bring happiness to all of our favorite families? Maybe what they need is some Christmas carols to set the mood:

“Slay bells ring. Are you listening? At the ranch, Victor’s bristling. There could be a fright, but Sharon’s happy tonight. Genoa City is a winter wonderland.”

The Young and the Restless Festivus, for the rest of us

As the countdown to Christmas looms closer, it is the time to reflect on what has been going on and whether Santa is going to be visiting. Will there be presents left under the tree or just lumps of coal and half-eaten biscuits left on the floor? Without further ado, let's get into The Young and the Restless' Naughty and Nice lists and see what these Y&R characters are getting this year.

The Nice List

“Saint” Nick (Joshua Morrow): Nick Newman isn’t completely alone on the Nice List, but he’s at the top. He saved Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) from a burning car and stands up to Victor and Adam when needed, which is no small task. And he's got Dad jokes.

Dr. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic): Helping the terminally ill stranger, Amy Lewis (Valerie Pettiford), locate her missing son (and his half-brother) is earning him a spot among the golden ones.

Traci Abbot (Beth Maitland): Perpetually nice. So much so, that she may just be Mrs Claus.

Claire Newman (Hayley Erin): You can’t be surprised to see Little Miss Perfect here. Maybe she’ll go back to earning buckets of coal in 2025.

Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford): On a redemption arc, Phyllis has been doing her best to protect her family — without her, things could have been a lot worse for Daniel. This lady may not get the popular vote, but she gets a nice ribboned box of credibility this year and hopefully some better luck.

Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters): Despite all odds, Diane proved to everyone that she was willing to sacrifice herself for Kyle and her family. That gets a spot here and a seat at the table for Christmas.

The Naughty List

Absolutely everyone else. Not one person listened to Phyllis — not even her son Daniel (Michael Graziadei) — and to make matters worse, her best friend Michael (Christian LeBlanc) took Sharon's case, and he did not have to. Talk about dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden): The Black Knight of Genoa City has been on a tear all year. Billy got some, Kyle got some, Lily got some, Jack got a boatload. What can Santa give this man that he can't buy for himself?

Jack Abbot (Peter Bergman): Although the motives were good, the fake fight and separation with Diane (Susan Walters) hurt many family members, and much forgiveness is needed this season.

Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd): Literally the worst cop in Genoa City. Did he get his badge from the Fruit Loops box? This man couldn't follow the evidence trail if he were tied to it. I bet if he referred to his manual, it’d have pop-ups, mazes, and coloring sections. Under the tree will be one of those $5 play kits with a badge, notebook, magnifying glass, and policeman hat.

Kyle Abbot (Michael Mealor): Kyle felt hard done by, so he stole a formula that would have set Jabot up for the future and gave it to Victor so he would employ him and hurt his father. It was pure evil, spawned from hate. So many lumps of coal for you, Kyle.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott): Nikki loyally stands by her man but to a fault. She knew the plan was never to put Lily in charge of Glissade. It was always Victor's intention to put his wife in power. But she played along and never said a word. Nikki doesn't care what Santa does or doesn't bring. Victor provides the gifts.

Sharon Newman (Sharon Case): Whether or not Sharon’s meds were tampered with, she had been holding a grudge and wanting Daniel to pay for an accident long before she tried to frame him. And she dumped Heather off of a bridge.

Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan): Wow, Chelsea, of all people in Genoa City to cheat on Billy with, you had to pick Adam? The gift of the clergy might be a good start.

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman): Another Newman here, lock it in. Adam ran hit pieces on Billy through Newman Media and wrecked Billy's relationship with his mother. The apple landed right beside the tree. Santa is going to leave Adam the deed to the coal mine.

Absentees

Ashley Abbot (Eileen Davidson) has spent the year in Paris. It's been a rough year so let's not come down on her here, too.

Ian Ward and Aunt Jordan: Both of these coal-mongers stopped believing in Santa a long time ago. One of them won’t make any list by next Christmas…
