At Newman Enterprises, Victor snarled at Cole for defying his orders to stay away from Victoria. Cole told Victor they had their daughter back and were pursuing a caring relationship. "You're not good enough for my daughter," Victor snapped. Cole told Victor that the only one whose opinion mattered was Victoria.

Victor barked that he didn't "give a damn" about Cole or Victoria's feelings. Victor said that Victoria has spent her life falling in and out of love with a bunch of losers and schmucks. "You're next in line," Victor told Cole. "I hope you can accept me, but if you don't, I won't back down," Cole said as he shrugged. "Cole Howard, I'm warning you," Victor said menacingly, but Cole walked out.

Phyllis bounced into Billy's office excitedly and told him she'd considered his proposal to be his second in command and wanted to accept his offer. Phyllis said she had no problem standing behind him or having a secondary position. Billy said Phyllis was almost convincing, but he knew better. Phyllis insisted she needed the job and would do whatever it took, including staying in her lane. "My lane is the express lane. I'm committed in every way to take Abbott-Chancellor to the top," Phyllis promised.

Billy welcomed Phyllis to the team as chief operating officer of Abbott-Chancellor. They immediately brainstormed, and he filled her in on Victor's plans to bring him down. Billy shared his plan to acquire Odyssey 7 and that the CEO was ready to sell. Billy said he was days away from locking it down. "Is it a real asset to Abbott-Chancellor? Or are you trying to prove something to your mom?" Phyllis asked.

Billy was unhappy that Phyllis questioned his judgment. He insisted that it was a deal that Jill had wanted for years but hadn't been able to get done, and it was best for the company. He told her, as COO, to call the CEO and get it done.

When Phyllis returned, she was confused. Phyllis said the CEO of Odyssey 7 hadn't sounded eager to sign, and he had refused to commit to a date. Billy didn't understand what had happened, as the last time they'd spoken, the CEO had wanted to get it done as soon as possible. Phyllis wondered if Victor was behind it. Billy said that the only two people who knew of the plans were Chance and Lily. Phyllis and Billy agreed that Chance would never undermine his grandmother's company but that Lily might have sold Billy out to Victor.

At the park, Claire said she was happy her parents had a second chance together and that she could watch it unfold. Victoria said she was being cautious, as she had been hurt so many times before.

Victoria suggested that Cole could have unfinished business from his life in England. Claire said her mom was looking for excuses not to let down walls. Victoria said she cared about Cole and was curious to see where the relationship went. Victoria admitted she hoped it worked out. Claire told Victoria to let the past go and follow her heart. "It's what you would tell me to do," Claire said.

Victoria noted that Claire and Kyle were closer. Claire shared that she and Kyle had kissed. Claire was undecided whether to keep her professional relationship with Kyle or pursue it romantically. Claire wondered if she would figure it out if she worked for Nikki instead of Kyle. Victoria was excited that Claire considered working at the family company.

Cole joined Victoria and Claire in the park. Alone for a moment, Victoria and Cole told each other they'd thought about each other all day and night. Victoria went to work, and Claire and Cole talked about Victoria and Kyle. Claire said Cole's relationship with Victoria would be great once Victoria got past her fears.

Victor told Nikki that Cole wanted to remain in Victoria's life, but he didn't think that Cole was the right man for their daughter. He reminded Nikki that Victoria made awful choices in relationships, but Nikki told Victor to let Victoria and Cole figure it out on their own. Victoria walked in as they discussed Odyssey 7, and she heard her father anticipating how he would bring down Billy. Victoria asked what they were plotting, but Victor said it was best that she didn't know. Victoria suggested another solution that could protect Billy's reputation and have him step aside from Chancellor.

Victoria explained to her parents that Billy wanted to secure his own legacy and Jill's, so he wouldn't go down without a fight. Victoria suggested they offer to buy him out instead. Victoria said with the money Billy would make from the deal, he could make his own Abbott company and create his legacy that way. Victor told Victoria that she was showing allegiance to a loser.

Victoria sternly reminded Victor that Billy was Katie and Johnny's father, and they would know if their grandfather stripped their dad of his company and humiliated him. "I want to humiliate that no-good bastard that has broken your heart too many times," Victor said, and Nikki agreed. Victor told Victoria in no uncertain terms that he would not make a deal with Billy. Victor said there was a plan in motion, and there was no returning from it.
