At Crimson Lights, Christine was emotional with Daniel. They talked about Danny and Lucy doing something special for Heather and how Daniel promised a celebration of life when they returned. Christine promised to “fight like hell” to prove Daniel’s innocence. “I want more than that,” Daniel said, “I want justice for Heather.”

Daniel wondered if the killer could be someone Heather had put behind bars, but Christine noted that the most possible were still incarcerated. Daniel was surprised when Christine gave Phyllis’ theory merit. She listed Sharon’s outbursts and anger over the previous few months, how Sharon was off her meds, and how she was the last to see Heather alive. Christine said she could see what Phyllis was talking about. “It raises a lot of questions and we’ll use that to our advantage,” Christine told Daniel.

Christine noted to Daniel that the day was about him and Heather. They ran into Nick, Sharon, and Faith as they were about to leave, and Daniel asked Sharon not to attend the funeral as he didn’t want a scene. He explained that Phyllis was convinced that Sharon killed Heather and wasn’t sure what she would do if Sharon were there. Sharon said she knew how to handle Phyllis and had been doing it for years. Daniel reiterated his need for Sharon not to attend. “I just think after everything that happened, I should be there to say goodbye to Heather. It’s the right thing to do,” Sharon said.

Nick came over and asked if everything was okay. Daniel stared at Nick with an incredulous look on his face as Sharon insisted she was going to the funeral. When Sharon went to put on her coat, Nick told Daniel to say the word, and he would bring Sharon home. “Clearly it means a lot to her,” Daniel swiped sarcastically.

Phyllis was having the Athletic Club set up for Heather’s memorial service when Summer arrived. She brought a large portrait of Heather and placed it on an easel. Summer was concerned Phyllis had left upset the night before, but her mom brushed it off. Phyllis said she knew her kids didn’t believe in her but that was okay because she would count on herself to get things done.

Summer labeled it a vendetta against Sharon after years of hating her, but Phyllis disagreed. “I know she’s guilty in my gut, and my gut is never wrong,” Phyllis told Summer. She asked Summer to trust her.

After a phone call with Lucy, Phyllis suggested they get Daniel a Texas bluebell flower to wear on his lapel. Summer tried to talk Phyllis out of carrying out the plan she had concerning Sharon at the funeral. Phyllis said she would do what she needed to exonerate Daniel and asked her to get the flower.

When Summer returned, she and Chance found Daniel outside by Heather’s casket. Summer went over to comfort her brother and put the flower on his lapel. Daniel knew instantly it was on behalf of Lucy. Phyllis saw Sharon when she walked in and said this was what she was hoping for. “Plausible deniability,” Phyllis noted. Daniel told his mom, “Not today.”

The service began, and Sharon looked more and more uncomfortable as Phyllis stared at her. Everyone in attendance took a turn putting a rose on Heather’s casket. Nick encouraged Sharon to place a flower with him and Faith. Sharon went last, and there were no more roses. She turned, and Phyllis was holding one out for her as she stared intently. Sharon put the rose on Heather’s casket and awkwardly scurried back to her seat.

Alone with the casket after everyone went inside, Daniel talked to Heather about their love story and the future he wouldn’t have with her. He told her he knew she would always be there for him and Lucy and then knelt down and hugged the casket as he cried. Daniel promised Heather that he would findout who took her from him and make them pay. As he sobbed, Phyllis watched, and it ripped her heart out to see him in so much pain.

As everyone came inside, Chance noted to Summer that all eyes were on him. Summer pointed out that everyone there knew Daniel wasn’t capable of what Chance had accused him of. “Not me, the D.A.,” Chance corrected. Chance suggested that Summer leave all the police business at the door. He told her he wasn’t there as a cop, he was there for her and Daniel.

Sharon was taken aback when she saw Heather’s portrait. Phyllis approached her and asked if that was how Heather looked when she murdered her. Nick told Phyllis it wasn’t the time, but Phyllis insisted that it was. “My son is being framed while the guilty party is standing right in front of me,” Phyllis snapped. Nick insisted Sharon had nothing to do with Heather’s murder. “Are you sure, Nick?” Phyllis questioned.

Sharon had gone to the bar to stand with Faith. Nick approached and assured Sharon that he told Phyllis to leave her alone, but Sharon noted that Phyllis could be relentless. Faith wondered what they were talking about and was upset when Sharon admitted that Phyllis theorized that Sharon was Heather’s murderer. “That’s crazy! How could she be so hateful?” Faith cried. Sharon empathized with Phyllis, mkaing Faith alarmed. “How can you be so kind?” Faith wondered. Sharon explained that Phyllis was acting on maternal instinct.

Phyllis went to Christine for an update on the case. They immediately were bickering about Phyllis’ need to know. Christine surprised Phyllis when she said Phyllis’ theory had merit but wanted to leave the conversation on that note.

Michael also checked in with Christine, and asked her from one lawyer to another, how bad Daniel’s case looke. Christine shared that the circumstantial evidence was damning. Michael reminded her that she had the truth and her skills on her side.

Phyllis asked for people to come up and talk about Heather. She went first, staring at Sharon as she talked about their relationship and how much Heather loved Daniel and Lucy. Summer shared how much she respected Heather as Lucy’s mother, and Michael shared how much Heather fought for justice. By the time Daniel spoke, Sharon was shaken.

Daniel told the group that Heather never lost faith in their future and always made things better. As he spoke of her light and joy, Sharon bolted from the room. She got to the entrance and doubled over. Phyllis spotted her and followed her. “It’s hard to see my son in pain, isn’t it? It’s hard to see him cry. You did that,” Phyllis said to Sharon. Sharon insisted she did not kill Heather. “You did. Please, I am begging you. I am begging for my son’s sake, please admit what you did and what you know you did,” Phyllis cried.

Phyllis asked Sharon to remember who she was and what she stood for, to do the right thing and admit what she did. Sharon looked like she came close but couldn’t speak. Instead, Sharon turned and ran out the front door, crying, as Phyllis followed her out and watched her run away.
